Paolo Nutini looks destined for No.1 come Sunday with his stunning new album ‘Sunny Side Up’. The record was top of the midweek’s and looks set to carry on in the same vein.

Paolo sets off on a 15-date tour in September and has summer festival shows booked in Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, T in the Park, Oxygen and V. He also plays the iTunes Live Festival, July 10, 2009 at the Roundhouse.

Kasabian are also taking part in the month long iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse, July 22nd. The band kicked off their 20-date sold out tour with a trio of emphatic hometown gigs in Leicester and played the first of their 9 massive stadium dates with Oasis in Manchester last night.

Their eagerly anticipated new album ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’ is out on Monday. The band’s new single ‘Fire’, which was released on Monday is No.1 on the iTunes Chart and riding high at No.3 in the midweek’s.

Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr appeared on stage for the first public viewing of Beatles Rock Band, released September 9th. The karaoke-style game lets users use adapted game controllers – lead guitar, bass guitar and drums – to play along to various songs. George Harrison’s widow, Olivia also attended the premiere.

Jersey Budd is setting himself up for a royal summer. He supported his mates Kasabian last weekend in a trio of raucous hometown shows on the opening nights of their tour and plays support to The Enemy, Somerset House, July 11th. Jersey also has 5 festival shows booked including Isle Of Wight Festival and Glastonbury.

He releases his anthemic single ‘She Came Back’ next month, which features guest vocals from Kasabian’s front man Tom Meighan.

Just Jack kicks off his short UK tour in Liverpool on Sunday, which features a show at the Electric Ballroom on Thursday (June 11th). No doubt he will be showcasing tracks from his impressive new album ‘All Night Cinema’. Jack also plays Glastonbury this month and supports Lily Allen at Somerset House, July 11th.

Jack was DJ for the night at the Glamour Awards on Tuesday as part of the aftershow party in Berkeley Square.

Mark Ronson was also at the Glamour Awards on Tuesday, presenting Adele with her solo artist of the year award. Mark plays the Southbank Centre’s Meltdown Festival, June 14th alongside Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, Sean Lennon and special guests.

Pearl Jam premiered their track ‘Got Some’ from their eagerly anticipated new album ‘Backspacer’ on the debut of the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien on Monday night. The band’s ninth studio album is set for release in the autumn.

On 1st June 2009 Brit indie quartet The Rumble Strips take charge of Topman CTRL* for an entire month, with a gig in Cardiff on Wednesday 10th June at CLWB IFOR BACH. Will Young is punching up some big numbers with new single “Changes”. After an incredible 10,000 plays on UK radio, the track is #1 in the national airplay chart and #4 in the regional airplay charts. We’re expecting a top ten chart entry this weekend, with CD, video and digital bundle formats still to come on Monday. Listen out for Will on Jonathan Ross’ Radio 2 show this weekend. He also plays London’s Cadogan Hall next Thursday September 25th, 2008.

Stereophonics‘ new single “You’re My Star” received an exclusive first spin on Chris Moyles’ breakfast show Wednesday morning. Kelly was on top form despite coming straight from the band’s show at L.A.’s Henry Fonda theatre. Just a few more stops to go on the North American tour now, with the UK tour kicking off in December.

Primal Scream were the big winners at last night’s Vodafone Live Music Awards, scooping two prizes: “Best Live Act” and “Outstanding Contribution to Live Music”.

Mark Ronson, modelling a fantastic new pair of specs, walked away with “Best Live Male”, while Will Young and Primal Scream got the night’s biggest cheers for their performances.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss were also winners last night, as the acclaimed duo were awarded “Album of the Year” and “Group of the Year” at Nashville’s Annual Americana Music Awards.

Anyone spotted Bill Bailey in the dole queue yet? Mark Ronson has pinched his seat on Never Mind The Buzzcocks for the new season opener, airing Thursday October 2nd on BBC2. Mark was great fun when he appeared as a guest in the last series, this should be even better.

Ship ahoy! Martha Wainwright is preparing for her October UK tour with a trip to Greenland, courtesy of the Cape Farewell project. Joining a crew that includes KT Tunstall, Feist, Jarvis Cocker and Robyn Hitchcock, Martha will see the impact of global warming at close quarters. New single “Comin’ Tonight” is out November 3rd, 2008.

Never ones to be outdone, Guillemots are planning a bit of potholing on their upcoming UK tour. The band play a series of unconventional November dates in caves, libraries and converted cinemas. Before then, it’s Wednesday’s premier of Simon Pegg’s new film How To Lose Friends & Alienate People, with the band playing the rooftop after party at Shoreditch House. New double A-side single “Kriss Kross / Clarion” is out Monday.

Teddy Thompson starts his UK tour next week, playing four headline dates before heading off to join James Blunt on his October arena tour. More Teddy headline dates coming up in January.

We think Aimee Mann should be made an honorary Englishwoman, after listing Elton John and Boddingtons as two of her greatest passions on ITV1’s “Soundtrack To My Life” last night. She gave a great interview, and also performed “Freeway” from her latest album. “@#%&! Smilers”. Look out for UK headline dates in October.

Aimee’s not the only one recognising her heroes – our very own Paolo Nutini is one of only twelve Celtic fanatics featured in the club’s forthcoming “Celtic Opus”. Half a metre square and weighing in at a massive 30kg, you’re going to need a big coffee table for this one!

Wednesday night (July 2, 2008), La Cigale in Paris hosted the third global Smirnoff Experience event, showcasing a dream collaboration between Mark Ronson and Duran Duran, continuing the tradition of unique original performances.

The event unveiled live performances of Mark Ronson’s reworkings of his favourite Duran Duran classics along with songs from their new album. Highlights included View to A Kill, Rio, Red Carpet Massacre, Planet Earth and Girls on Film, performed by the band together with Ronson. Earlier in the evening, Simon Le Bon provided guest vocals with Daniel Merriweather on Stop Me during Mark Ronson and the Version Players’ set.

The 1200-capacity invitation-only event attracted a star-studded crowd including, Eva Mendes, Philippe Starck, John Galliano, Ellen Von Unwerth, Santogold, Kenna, Tim Burgess, Yasmin Le Bon and Daisy Lowe.

During the 90-minute performance the crowd enjoyed specially created versions of classic Duran Duran tracks. The collaboration came about when Smirnoff invited Ronson to bring his unique perspective to the Duran Duran catalogue, forming the centrepiece of this latest Smirnoff Experience event.

Mark Ronson shared of his experience in working with Duran Duran: “This has to be one of the highlights in LIFE for me.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon said: “There’s not that many people on Planet Earth (!) right now who’ve got what it takes to work with Duran Duran both musically and visually. In fact, when I look at it like that, Mark Ronson may be the only man alive who is. And, being very big fans of his, we couldn’t be more thrilled”.

Duran Duran bassist, John Taylor, commented: “Mark is one of the most exciting talents in music today. He’s a super-nice guy too, which makes it even better. He had a lot of crazy ideas which all seemed to work out. So many, in fact, that what was supposed to be a thirty-minute set turned out to be an hour and a half! And it’s great to have his big band wrap themselves around us too, horns, strings and percussion. It was really magical!”

The night opened with the Smirnoff Experience resident DJ Tom Middleton celebrating the 20th anniversary of Acid House music with a unique collaboration. Classically trained pianist Maxence Cyrin from Paris, joined him to create a collection of dance classics performed on a grand piano.

After the live music, the crowd were treated to an original and underground set from Busy P aka Pedro Winter, owner and founder of uber-cool Parisian electronic label Ed Banger Records. Busy P played a DJ set that premiered his Smirnoff Experience rework of Duran Duran’s hit The Reflex, before Middleton came back to close the event in his own unique party style.

A series of original Smirnoff cocktails were created specially for the event, including a choice of four martinis, two of which were strawberry basil and melon and mint. The invited guests were offered a special sampler on entering the venue. Bottled water was given out throughout the evening, as well as a plentiful supply of canapes.

Smirnoff Experience is a global experiential marketing program, celebrating the brand’s rich heritage and originality. The program features original collaborations fused with unique and interactive entertainment – all showcased in four of the cities most relevant to the history of the brand: Moscow, Shanghai, Paris and New York City.

This exciting partnership will form the centerpiece of Smirnoff Experience Paris, set to take place on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 at La Cigale, Paris.

Duran Duran will perform a unique live set with Ronson for this exclusive, invite-only performance. Together, they will showcase specially re-worked versions of some of the band’s classic hits that will be created by Ronson, along with tracks from their critically-acclaimed new album, ‘Red Carpet Massacre’.

Mark Ronson & the Version Players will also be bringing Mark’s acclaimed live show to the event, performing songs from his hit album, ‘Version’. Simon LeBon will bring his vocal magic to Mark’s music as one of his featured guest vocalists.

Smirnoff Experience Paris is the third of four global Smirnoff Experience events, celebrating the brand’s heritage and originality. The global program features original music collaborations fused with unique and interactive entertainment showcased in four of the cities most relevant to the history of the brand: Moscow, Shanghai, Paris and New York City.

In preparation for this once-in-a-lifetime show, Mark Ronson and the four original members of Duran Duran: Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor, have already started planning this collaboration with regular conversations from the road that Mark is now following up on with time spent in the studio creating the never-before heard or played interpretations.

Premier electronic French label Ed Banger will also add their own magic to the night, with other specially-created Duran Duran remixes being presented by a selection of their hottest artists and DJs. With their ‘Red Carpet Massacre World Tour’ now underway, in support of the release of their 12th studio album, musical innovators Duran Duran have announced details of four special UK shows that will form part of an extensive 30 date European summer run.

Taking in Liverpool, Nottingham, Birmingham and London, the four original members of Duran Duran: Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor and John Taylor will be bringing a spectacular new production to British shores that will showcase their latest record, alongside all of the fan-favourites from their vast catalogue of hits.

This will be the first time that the band have performed at some of these venues – namely, their first outing in the O2 Arena in London, the Liverpool Echo Arena and the NIA in Birmingham.

This upcoming leg of the tour will see the group’s first performances in the UK since the release of ‘Red Carpet Massacre’ (Epic Records), which the band launched late last year with an unprecedented two-week Broadway residency in New York, and a one-night-only engagement, that was filmed for television at the Lyceum Theatre in London.

In a bold move, Duran Duran performed their new record in its entirety to sold-out houses in both the UK and US, prior to the album’s global launch. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response from fans and critics alike, the band are now taking a specially tailored version of this three-act show on the road around the world, starting in Australia and New Zealand, headlining the V Festival series, alongside their own shows.

‘Red Carpet Massacre’ marks an all-time creative high for the band members, who wrote and recorded this ground-breaking album with producers Timbaland and Nate ‘Danja’ Hills, alongside today’s reigning king of pop, Justin Timberlake.

Duran Duran have also confirmed that the critically acclaimed Sheffield indie band the Arctic Monkeys have remixed the bands second single “Skin Divers”. The track remixed by Arctic Monkey’s drummer Matt Helders is also rumoured to feature sampled vocals by Helders and lead singer Alex Turner.

The Arctic’s association with the eighties pop legends extends to the bands last album ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ in which they pay homage to several Duran Duran tracks on “I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor” where the band use the lyrics “Your name isn’t Rio, but I don’t care for sand” and on the acclaimed “Teddy Picker” which contains the lyrics “I don’t want your prayer, save it for the morning after”. Duran Duran’s John Taylor is one of their biggest fans. “I love them, they are one of the best bands to have come out in the last five years, probably the best.”

The band are also teaming up with Grammy award winning artist, producer and re-mixer Mark Ronson in the Summer.

Duran Duran’s spokesman said: “I can’t confirm any specific details at the moment, other than to say that they are definitely discussing working on some material together and a possible live collaboration for the Summer of this year, there is a mutual respect and admiration of each other’s work.” Ronson has also made no secret that he is a fan of Duran Duran, “I have a soft spot for some of that 1980s production and I love great bands from that era such as Duran Duran.”

Ethiopian born urban songsmith Kenna recently finished up a European tour with Mark Ronson, while Chad Hugo from the Neptunes has produced his debut album for Star Trak (Pharrell’s label).

Who needs hype when you’ve got that kind of backing?

Kenna’s debut UK single “Out Of Control (State Of Emotion)” will come out through Star Trak/Interscope Records on April 28th, 2008 followed by an album, ‘Make Sure They See My Face’ on May 5th, 2008.

The Virginia-based vocalist debuted the single at live performances at Yo Yo, Notting Hill Arts Club and the Water Rats in March, and will be back in the UK for some more shows in April.

Confirmed for this year’s five day festival are Mark Ronson and Kaiser Chiefs both of whom will be staging unique collaborative performances for the crowds at The Roundhouse in Camden and for those watching and listening on the BBC.

Taking place from October 24th to 28th 2007, BBC Electric Proms is specifically designed to create new moments in music. Each performance seeks to create something different. It may feature collaborations between new and established acts or new material performed for the first time. Whatever the artists decide, audiences are guaranteed to see and hear something truly memorable.
