Norah Jones announces TV appearances on Late Show With David Letterman, Colbert Report, Good Morning America and The View in support of her new album 'The Fall'

VH1 will present the world premiere of the music video for Norah Jones' "Chasing Pirates," which debuts online at VH1.com today Tuesday, October 27, 2009 and will air on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown at 9AM ET on Saturday, October 31.

"Chasing Pirates" is the lead single from Norah Jones' highly anticipated upcoming album The Fall, which will be released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17.

The video, which was shot in Jones’ hometown of New York City, was directed by Rich Lee, who has worked on the visual effects for all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Lee has also directed music videos by everyone from Fergie (“Clumsy”) to Michael Buble (“Haven’t Met You Yet”).

Jones has also announced a first run of TV appearances around the release of The Fall.

The multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter will be appearing on CBS Late Show With David Letterman (November 11), Comedy Central The Colbert Report (November 18), and ABC Good Morning America (November 16) and The View (November 23).

“Chasing Pirates,” which was featured on Rolling Stone’s “Hot List,” immediately announces a new direction for Jones. Entertainment Weekly wrote that "Chasing Pirates' is a bluesy surprise and welcome change of pace," adding that "Jones' voice remains as lovely as ever."

"For this record, I just had a sound in my head," Jones says. "I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different."

That new sound began to present itself on one of the first songs Jones wrote for the project.

"About a year ago, I did some demos in my home studio," she says. "I had some friends come in and we figured out a cool arrangement for 'Chasing Pirates,' with a cool drum part. It went somewhere I didn't expect it to go, and that became a direction to look in."

"Chasing Pirates" - which is currently featured on Rolling Stone's "Hot List" - immediately announces a new direction for Jones.

"For this record, I just had a sound in my head," Norah says.

Stream Chasing Pirates

"Norah Jones could have kept recording iterations of Come Away With Me for decades," Newsweek wrote recently on their Pop Vox blog. "Clearly, that's not what she's doing. The gradual shifts away from that oversize debut have worked so far, and The Fall is an even bigger step away, and a step up in what is still the beginning of a big career.

"The first single, ‘Chasing Pirates,’ is a head-bobbing, compact little song whose catchy hook could put Jones on radio stations that may have spun her only rarely before. She sings, 'I don't know how to slow it down/My mind's racing from chasing pirates,' and as wistful as the lyric sounds, what Jones has done with the new record is indeed another departure. Only this time she's heading down a louder, dusted-up rock path."

The Fall finds Jones experimenting with a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others.

Norah Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris. King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

Jones was the surprise guest performer at Apple’s “It’s Only Rock n’ Roll” press conference yesterday in San Francisco. Her breakout album Come Away With Me is one of the first albums to be released in the iTunes LP format, a new feature of iTunes 9 that reinvents the visual experience of the record album through live performance videos, lyrics, artwork, liner notes, interviews, photos, album credits and more. After being introduced by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, Jones performed “Come Away With Me” and also debuted “Young Blood,” a new song from The Fall.

Jones has taken a new direction on the The Fall, experimenting with different sounds and a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris. King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

Frenchkiss indie-pop ragamuffin Sean Bones has been churning out the music at a feverish clip.

The much-discussed collaboration with Norah Jones, who Sean starred opposite in LA Film Festival winner Wah Do Dem, was offered up at Stereogum, only days after AOL Spinner premiered a souped-up remix of “Dancehall” by the Bodega Girls. Now you can download both tracks on Band Weblogs.

Of course, if listening’s just not enough, and you’re hungry for more of Bones’ beach-friendly Reggae-pop union, Sean and bandmate Merida Rose recently shot a performance clip for “Turn Them,” trading out the film’s florid backdrop of Jamaica for a slightly more “New York” experience of the waterfront.

Check it all out below, along with a list of Sean's recently-announced September dates.

Produced by Jacquire King, Album Features New Band Members and Songwriting Collaborations with Ryan Adams, Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, and Jesse Harris

Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Norah Jones will release her fourth studio album on Blue Note Records this November.

More info: Norah Jones - The Fall album artwork

Norah Jones wrote nearly all of the songs in the past two years since completing tours in support of her 2007 global chart-topping, U.S. double-platinum album 'Not Too Late'.

Buy Music:

Norah Jones on amazon.com

Norah Jones on amazon.co.uk

Beloved by fans for her sultry vocals and jazz-informed, piano-driven pop songwriting, Jones has taken a new direction on the as-yet-untitled album, seeing it as a chance to experiment with different sounds and an opportunity to work with a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others.

Jones also enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris.

“I knew I wanted to try some different things on this album,” Jones says. “I’d been playing with the same musicians for a long time. We’re all still friendly and I hope we play together again, but it felt like a good time to work with new people and experiment with different sounds. As far as a producer, I wanted someone who could take me out of my comfort zone and find the right musicians to capture what I wanted to do with this collection of songs. I got in touch with Jacquire initially because he engineered one of my favorite records of all time, Tom Waits’ Mule Variations. He was really eager to do it and we got along really well, which was important.”

King helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

Jones and King tailored the songs to the musicians’ strengths. “I think the record sounds different due to the variety of musicians we used,” Jones says, “I knew I wanted to play with grooves more than I have on previous albums. Some of these new songs lent themselves to having driving rhythms underneath.”

Another noticeable change on Jones’ upcoming album is that she plays mostly guitar. “I actually write more on guitar than I do on piano,” she says. “It just felt more natural for me to play it on these songs.”

Since coming on the scene in 2002, Jones’ has sold a collective 36 million albums worldwide. Her three studio albums, 2002’s eight-time Grammy Award-winning Come Away With Me, 2004’s Feels Like Home, and 2007’s Not Too Late have each topped the Billboard top 200 album charts in the U.S. and gone to No. 1 around the world. All three have been certified multi-platinum, while Come Away With Me has been certified diamond.

Since 2007, Norah Jones has collaborated with a number of artists, including Herbie Hancock, Talib Kweli, Willie Nelson, Q-Tip, Irma Thomas, and Andy Samberg’s comedy troupe The Lonely Island.

She has also contributed to various soundtracks, including Ken Burns’ The War, Ethan Hawke’s The Hottest State, and Wong Kar-wai’s My Blueberry Nights, as well as the Fats Domino tribute album Goin’ Home. In 2007, Jones starred opposite Jude Law in My Blueberry Nights and made a cameo in this year’s season finale of 30 Rock. Also this year, Jones was featured as a flagship artist on Apple’s GarageBand, presenting a tutorial on how to perform her song “Thinking About You.”

More details about Norah Jones’ upcoming album will be announced soon.

This time, the original series known for connecting fans to the bands they love, will be connecting the legendary Nelson to the Low Country's premier rock n' roll outfit, Band of Horses, for a special guest performance.

Fans around the world know that the adventurous Willie Nelson can sing just about anything - and with just about anyone he pleases. As he sees it, "The more songs you know, the more musicians you listen to, the more writers you hear, the better equipped you are to decide where you want to go next. That's why I want to listen to everyone and everything and then decide which way I want to go. Then, of course, I might change my mind and go in an entirely different direction. But at least I have all these options."

Willie Nelson shares his love for the American songbook with the anticipated release of 'American Classic', his first album of jazz standards since his 1978 masterpiece 'Stardust', featuring duets with Norah Jones and Diana Krall.

On August 25, 2009, legendary singer Willie Nelson will be releasing 'American Classic', his first album of standards since his landmark 1978 masterpiece 'Stardust', and his solo debut for Blue Note Records.

Produced by Tommy LiPuma, 'American Classic' features special guest appearances by Norah Jones and Diana Krall, string arrangements by Johnny Mandel, and a top shelf backing band that includes Nelson’s longtime sidekick Mickey Raphael on harmonica, and such notable jazzmen as pianist Joe Sample, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Lewis Nash.

While it’s common now for mature pop artists to attempt to put their own stamp on the American Songbook, Nelson practically invented the approach. He set the standard for playing the standards with 'Stardust', perhaps this “outlaw” entertainer’s most daring move. The album went on to become the most successful album of his career thus far. It reached #1 on the Billboard’s Country Albums chart; racked up more than five million in sales; earned Nelson a Country Male Vocal Performance Grammy; and, most significantly, helped to transform a colorful, middle-aged cult figure into a mainstream star.

Encouraging Nelson to record 'Stardust' was Bruce Lundvall, now President of Blue Note Records, who had the prescience to sign Nelson to Columbia in the ‘70s and, thirty years later, offer him a home at Blue Note. Nelson’s first effort for the label was his acclaimed 2008 collaboration with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, 'Two Men With the Blues', a spirited live set that garnered wide acclaim and debuted at #20 on the Billboard pop chart.

The track listing for American Classic is as follows:

1. The Nearness Of You
2. Fly Me To The Moon
3. Come Rain Or Shine
4. If I Had You featuring Diana Krall
5. Ain’t Misbehavin’
6. I Miss You So
7. Because Of You
8. Baby It’s Cold Outside featuring Norah Jones
9. Angel Eyes
10. On The Street Where You Live
11. Since I Fell For You
12. Always On My Mind
