On September 11 2007, Low Altitude Records (the label that brought us Patrick Wolf and the Noisettes) is set to release Australian Sarah Blasko’s second album, ‘What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have’. Her sophomore release is a collection of bittersweet songs propelled by her ethereal voice and atmospheric production – a cavernous, haunting presentation recorded live in a converted ballroom.

Sarah Blasko’s first album, ‘The Overture & the Underscore’, launched her into the public consciousness as a purveyor of inventive, intelligent pop music, sparking critical acclaim, a raft of ARIA nominations, a Gold album, sold-out tours (with Ray LaMontagne and Martha Wainwright) and a performance at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. Her sophisticated-yet-dreamy vocals and emotive lyrics evoke comparisons to My Brightest Diamond, Nicole Atkins, St Vincent, and Radiohead.

Rockin’ kids from down under and all over, Second Dan will perform with local Jersey acts Souls Release and Billy at The Blow-Up Radio.com’s monthly concert series at Buddie’s Tavern in Parlin, NJ on June 16th, 2007.

Buddie’s Tavern is located at 277 Johnsons Lane. Second Dan takes the stage at 10:30 PM. Admission is free.

Second Dan got their start in Australia when their EP ‘Running Out of Feelings,’ achieved award-winning airplay on Triple J’s “Unearthed,” a known rocket boom for a number of Australian acts such as the Grates, Silverchair and Jet. ‘Running Out of Feelings,’ along with the follow-up single, “Everything Is Good” were both in heavy rotation for over two months with regular national radio play. The band toured the country on festival bills with The White Stripes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Vines.

The band, now based in NYC, spent the past year plotting steps toward breaking the world’s biggest music market. They returned to the studio to record their first full-length album, ‘Bringing Down Goliath.’ They also built a passionate following in the region as the live stage is Second Dan’s first home. They have been regularly playing headlining shows at Mercury Lounge and Arlene’s Grocery along with supporting bills at venues like Irving Plaza.

‘Bringing Down Goliath’ will be released this fall via Rola Pola Records and Organic Entertainment.

Brooklyn songwriter Ben Godwin will set up residency at NYC’s Sidewalk Cafe, home to Antifolk scene, next month in June, for the entire month. He will be performing every Wednesday night (June 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th) at 10 PM. Fans can expect a host of guest musicians to join Ben each week as he performs songs off his new album, ‘Skin and Bone.’ More details will be announced about specific performances closer to the actual dates. The Sidewalk Cafe is located at 94 Avenue A in the heart of the East Village.

‘Skin and Bone’ is available for purchase everywhere online via KarmaFarm Records at stores such as iTunes, eMusic, Real, Rhapsody and Audio Lunchbox. To learn more about Ben Godwin and to hear sample tracks from ‘Skin and Bone,’ please visit www.myspace.com/karmafarm.

“Boozy, barrelhouse brawn with a romantic heart of gold, Godwin is highly recommended to fans of Waits, Coyne, Alex Harvey, and recent Elvis Costello”.
7/10 — Jeff Penczak (30 April, 2007)

London musical transplant Ben Godwin loves New York - so much so that he moved to the city in 2005, after many successful years as a touring musician in the UK.

“There’s songs everywhere here, just waiting to be written. You can stand on any street corner, put out your hand, and grab ‘em out of the air,” says Ben.

That inspiration, along with his unique guitar stylings and influences toward Jeff Buckley and Tom Waits provides for Ben’s newest record, ‘Skin and Bone’, capturing a new sound and a new energy- raw, passionate, and hypnotic.
