Toto: The Collection – 7 Disc Boxset is set for release 17th March, 2008.

This beautifully packaged collection includes Toto’s first seven albums plus a fantastic live DVD. These are the albums which shaped their distinctive sound and image, gaining them a loyal legion of die hard fans.

The Grammy award-winning band were founded in 1976 by some of the most popular and experienced session musicians of the era. They were even described by Eddie Van Halen as “collectively the best musicians on the planet”. The public obviously agreed – the group has sold over 30 million albums to date.

This collection is perfect for those who want to discover the magic of Toto as well as being a collector’s item for established fans.

Album Info:

Toto

This was the self titled debut album that launched Toto into massive commercial success, setting the standard for the band throughout the 1980s when they went on to become one of the biggest selling groups of their era.

The album spawned hit single “Hold The Line” as well as Georgy Porgy and “I’ll Supply The Love”. The band was nominated for a Grammy award for Best New Artist and shortly thereafter, in early 1979, they embarked on their first American tour in support of the debut album.

Hydra

The successful follow up album to Toto was released in 1979. It featured the hit single “99″, which was inspired by George Lucas’ cult film THX 1138. This song went on to become one of the band’s most popular numbers. Other singles include “St George And The Dragon” and “All Us Boys”.

The band also released a promotional video for the album’s title track, though the song was never released as a single.

Turn Back

Turn back was probably the most experimental of their albums. It was a new direction for the group and one which prompted strong responses from critics both positive and negative. The record is very guitar heavy and features less keyboards than their previous two records.

Toto IV

Toto were not a band to rest on their laurels. In 1982 they released their most successful albums to date. In fact, Toto IV became one of the most commercially successful records of the entire decade. The massive hit singles massive “Africa” and “Rosanna” are both on this album.

Toto IV dominated the charts throughout the world, bringing the band to new audiences. Africa topped the American charts in February of 1983 and was a constant presence on radios across the globe. However, it was “Rosanna” that earned the band multiple Grammy nominations.

The album was awarded 6 Grammy Awards including Record Of The Year for “Rosanna”, Album Of The Year for Toto IV, and Producer Of The Year. In the video for “Rosanna”, a young Patrick Swayze can be seen as one of the dancers, and a young Cynthia Rhodes can be seen as the lead dancer.

Isolation

The follow up record to Toto IV was also a commercial success, achieving gold status. This was the first album to feature new lead singer Fergie Frederiksen. Isolation features fantastic singles “Stranger In Town” and “How Does It Feel”.

Fahrenheight

This album was recorded with another new singer, Joseph Williams. It featured the popular single “I’ll be Over You” with a guest appearance from none other than Miles Davis. It was well known that Miles was a big fan of the group and their music. Also on this album is “Could This Be Love”.

Seventh One

1988, Toto released their next album The Seventh One (Quite literally, Toto’s 7th album) which featured Jon Anderson of Yes on its single, “Stop Loving You”. The record’s other single, “Pamela” also became very popular.

The Seventh One, became the band’s most successful release since Toto IV.

The album shot into the top 30 when it was released in Sweden. In fact, the liner notes are written by Borje Lundberg – co-author of Hello, Sweden! I’m Johnny Cash.

This electrifying concert recording includes a raucous instrumental version of “I Walk The Line” as well as other classics such as “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Me & Bobby McGee”, “San Quentin” and “Blue Suede Shoes” by Carl Perkins.

Johnny Cash opened with “A Boy Named Sue” for a fully-seated auditorium and for the next hour continued with some of his biggest hits and fan favorites. To commemorate the day, Johnny had learned a few Swedish words: “Thank you my friends, I hope you like our music.”

He was a passionate man, but the country star was particularly interested with the downtrodden. Prisoners. Though playing shows in prisons was not unusual to Johnny (San Quentin, Folsom State Prison) – he had never performed at a prison outside the U.S.A. when he took the stage at 1:10 p.m. on October 3, 1972 at Osteraker Prison north of Stockholm, Sweden.

One of the last great Johnny Cash albums to finally see a release on CD, this truly is a must-have for all fans of the man who walked the line

Dancers from Thriller LIVE perform Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance in front of unsuspecting members of the public to celebrate 25th year anniversary of Thriller.

The biggest selling album of all time went underground when London commuters were taken by storm with a filmed performance of the famous Thriller Dance on the London district line tube.

Already an instant hit on YouTube, the video shows passengers looking flabbergasted as the impromptu performance by fellow commuters kicks off. One viewer said: “This is amazing!!! Slick as hell. I love the people who pretend they’re not interested.” Another Internet watcher said: “The polite applause at the end is the best bit – very British.”

The video has been picked up across the world with the Metro paper running a huge feature together with TV coverage on ITV London Tonight. This has clearly captured the imagination of the London commuters with a serious debate across blogs, websites and YouTube about this dance extravaganza.

The dance was performed by professional dancers from Thriller LIVE which is a full budget mega-show celebrating the music of the World’s Greatest Entertainer.

Leon Jackson, the 2007 winner of The X Factor, appeared on GMTV’s LK Today this morning. Lorraine Kelly talked to Leon about his win last Saturday night December 15th, his nerves throughout the show and the fact that he had just started singing publicly in January of this year. Karaoke was his schtick before his appearance on the show, and after being crowned the winner, Leon is now a part of X Factor history.

Leon’s new single, a cover of the Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey hit song “When You Believe”, is now available for download and will be in stores December 19th, 2007 on Sony BMG. We’ll have to wait and see if it will make UK Christmas #1.

He sang “When You Believe” on LK Today along with a choir, and after performing on The X Factor Saturday night and probably getting little sleep, he sounded pretty good for a Monday morning. I like the tone of his voice, and at times it reminds me a bit of Jamie Cullum. Even though Leon, who hails from Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland, is only 18 years old and hasn’t had much experience performing in public, he seems a natural on stage.

With Dannii Minogue as his mentor during The X Factor (UK series 4), it seemed apropos that he would sing a duet with her sister Kylie on the night of his win. They sang her hit, “Better The Devil You Know”. I wonder if that will ever be released as a single?

Leona Lewis has just released new single, “Bleeding Love” off of her debut album ‘Spirit’, set for release November 12th, 2007 on SonyBMG. The X-Factor 2006 winner has been in LA recording her album, working with Simon Cowell, Clive Davis as well as top producers and songwriters.

After performing on X-Factor last Saturday night, Leona was on GMTV’s LK Today this morning talking about the new single and the upcoming album release. She said that she was involved in the songwriting process on some of the songs and was happy to release original material rather than all covers. She also performed “Bleeding Love” live. From what I could see it was just Leona and a backing track – no band.

Leona Lewis’ voice still sounds great – if not better than when she was on the X-Factor. “Bleeding Love” is catchy and is sure to make a grand entrance into the UK pop charts, especially considering her fans have been waiting quite some time for the opportunity to go out and buy her new single.

John Barrowman, much loved actor, singer, TV and West End star releases his highly anticipated new album ‘Another Side’ on November 12th, 2007 on Sony BMG.

‘Another Side’ is an album full of classic songs. They are songs that John has wanted to record for many years, all of them having had a personal meaning or connection in his life and career. Across a number of musical genres, but predominantly sumptuous, streamlined pop, he lends his rich vocals to, amongst others, Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time”, Elton John’s “Your Song”, Chicago’s “If You Leave Me Now” and Billy Joel’s “She’s Always A Woman To Me”.

John Barrowman is a unique actor, singer and presenter. He is best known on British TV as Captain Jack Harkness in BBC’s Doctor Who and it’s especially created spin-off series Torchwood. In the last year alone he has been on a variety of primetime television shows, whether judging on the award winning BBC1 entertainment shows How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do, as a celebrity skater on the ITV show Dancing On Ice, and a hugely amusing and memorable guest on The Jonathan Ross Show, The Friday Night Project and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He has also starred in many top West End productions including Miss Saigon, Beauty & The Beast, Grease! And The Phantom Of The Opera.

His standing with the British public is such that he was recently proclaimed ‘a national treasure’ by The Times. Now, he has returned to his first love, music, and to commit his favourite songs to record.

“I see myself being very different from the average singer. I have released records before, but this is my first for a mainstream audience. But I do want to make it absolutely clear here and now: I am not trying to be a pop star. I’m just trying to make a high quality album full of songs that I hope people would want to hear me sing. For those who only maybe know me from television, I’d like them to discover another side of me.”

Tickets go on sale for The Coral UK tour at 10am on Friday 27th July 2007. A single “Who’s Gonna Find Me” precedes the album on the 30th July 2007 on Deltasonic/SonyBmg.

The Coral have also toured Europe as special guest to the Arctic Monkeys and will join them in America for further dates prior to the UK tour.

In addition the six-piece from Hoylake, Merseyside, England will play a couple of one-off intimate shows in London including The ICA, July 30th as part of the iTunes festival and The 100 Club on August 6th as part of XFM’s 10th anniversary celebrations. The Coral also be appearing on the Channel 4 stage at the V Festival in Chelmsford on the 18th August and Staffordshire on the 19th.
