About Foxy Shazam:

Hello, my name is Eric Nally and I am the singer and founding member of this rabble-rousing pack of f***s they call Foxy Shazam. Our other five members are (in alphabetical order): Daisy (bass) Aaron McVeigh (drums), Alex Nauth (horns) Loren Turner (guitar) and Sky White (piano). I love them but before I get into their story, I would like to spend a little time on myself: I am twenty-four years old, the father of two boys, Julian Michael and Francis Jordan, as well as a loving husband to Karen Nally. This creates an interesting contrast to my career as a professional musician.

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was one of two white boys in an all-black high school. The band name Foxy Shazam came from a saying in my school meaning, "cool shoes." If you had cool shoes kids would say those are "foxy shazam." Because of this we have a lot of soul, and try to let it bleed through our music as much as possible. Mom and Dad were pretty poor as I was growing up but always supported my musical interests nonetheless. In the early years they bought my band cheap guitars and amps and drove us to shows in the family Thunderbird. I owe them big time and will someday repay them.

Now that you know a little about my history, I would like to talk about my bandmates. Alex, our trumpet player is my right hand man and as a matter of fact he is transcribing this for me right now. Alex is classically trained, has a likable personality and is easy to get along with. We picked him up on the corner of Hollywood and Las Palmas a couple of years into the band's existence and I feel like his horn playing has added to the uniqueness of our sound. I meet a lot of people that think horns are stupid, but he's going to change that.

Loren, our guitar player is a weird guy to get the hang of and he's very quiet. Everyone that meets him gets the impression that he's mad at them but that's not the case, it's just the way his face looks. He loves Dimebag Darrell and I love the influence that gives him in his guitar playing.

Daisy, our bass player has been in the band for about three years. To be honest, I don't know too much about him and I like him like that. That's what makes him Daisy. However, I do know that his contribution to our band is enormous and without him we would not sound the way that we do.

Aaron our drummer is the newest member of the band. The position of Foxy's drummer, until Aaron, has been one that is filled temporarily but never permanently. I would never be caught dead in the clothes he wears but, hey, to each his own. His drum playing is not fancy but it's extremely solid and is exactly what we've been looking for all these years.

Last but not least is Sky White, our pianist who is trained in classical and jazz performance. I remember Loren and I went to a show his old band was playing and the second I saw him stand on his keyboard with a piñata on his head I knew we had to get him in Foxy Shazam. It didn't take too much convincing and a week later we were recording our first album Flamingo Trigger (which came out in 2005) and went on to do Introducing (2008). Our self-titled major label debut is coming out now.

When I listen to a Foxy Shazam record I think of Evel Knievel, Bruce Springsteen, my childhood, Van Morrison, my old friends from high school I don't talk to anymore, Elton John, the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and beyond, Iggy Pop and my first kiss. One of my favorite things to do when listening to my music is to close my eyes and picture a crowd of six million people all chanting "Foxy! Foxy! Foxy!" The lights go out and my band walks on stage. It gives me goose bumps. It all makes sense to me. When you listen to our record, think of your favorite things and it'll make sense to you as well.

Foxy Shazam is not concerned with what category it falls into. We want to stand for our generation.

We want to be the biggest band in the world.

We are the Michael Jordan of Rock N' Roll.

Snoop's Annual Youth Football League Game For Charity Will Feature Snoop's Famed "Snoop Dogg All Stars" Against a Celebrity Coached Team from South Florida

Entertainer and hip hop icon Snoop Dogg has announced that his eighth annual "Snoop Bowl" will be played in South Florida on February 6, 2010.

Snoop's nearly undefeated team, the Snoop Dogg All Stars, will square off against a local youth football team from Miami coached by Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter and superstar wide receiver Terrell Owens. The event promises to be a spectacular one and with an amazing plight focused on kids.

Annually, the "Snoop Bowl" has the Snoop Dogg All Stars traveling to the Super Bowl to challenge a team of all stars from the host city. Last year, Snoop's team decisively defeated the Mike Alstott led Tampa All-Stars, 22-6, in Tampa. This year the challenge moves to Miami, and anything can happen.

During its existence, the Snoop Bowl has drawn huge crowds and raised more than $100,000 for charities; this year will be no different. The game will be played at Miami's mecca for high school football, Traz Powell Stadium.

Snoop says, "I am happy that we've been doing this event for eight years - the kids love it and I do too. The future NFL stars play in this game annually and its fun to watch the kids imitate there favorite NFL stars. The Snoop Bowl is as big as the Super Bowl to every kid playing organized football in the USA because they aspire to play against my team or to be coached by Coach Snoop "The Great." I love being me wouldn't you like to be an All Star too?! I also want to thank Title Sports Drink for stepping up to participate in something that is not only good for the community but a ton of fun, ya dig?"

The Snoop Youth Football League, now in the sixth year of existence, has recently garnered a ton of credit from prestigious media outlets including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times as being a huge part in the success of Crenshaw High School's undefeated football record.

Historically, Crenshaw has not been known for their football team but this year, nine of their players have come through the ranks of the SYFL, and it is no coincidence that the team is currently undefeated, earning them the Los Angeles city title. In fact, college recruiters have already approached a few of the ex-SYFL players, and the league is fielding calls from cities such as Dallas and Pittsburgh that want to replicate the Snoop model.

Title Sports Drink is the title sponsor of Snoop Bowl VIII and the official sports drink of all participating teams. "We're very proud to be involved in such a great event. It allows us to both sponsor youth football at its finest and hydrate some of our future stars," says Kevin Sepe, President of Title Sports Drink.

"Snoop Bowl VIII" kicks off February 6, 2010 at 1:30pm at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami.

As far as the half-time show went, it was certainly a safe bet having Tom Petty on as the act. As expected, the band sounded good and played through a tame set of familiar hits like "American Girl", "I Won't Back Down", "Free Falling" and "Runnin' Down A Dream". We were surprised to see the guitar player pull out the double necked electric at one point - but that's about as risque as it got.

There was news a few days ago that Mark Oliver Everett - or "E" as he's known - from the Eels was going to put on a one second ad during the Super Bowl for their upcoming album, 'Useless Trinkets'. The ad was supposed to be of E saying the first letter of the new album title - the letter "U" and would have been the shortest TV ad ever used during the Super Bowl, at the cost of a mere $100,000.

I've just found out that it didn't air, and E has stated, "In the end we were told that the NFL would have to find 29 other advertisers to buy 1 second spots to fill a standard 30 second advertising slot and that they do not sell advertising time by the second. They also noted that a rapid fire 30 second segment of thirty 1 second commercials could cause people with certain medical conditions to have seizures and that it was against network regulations."

That's too bad. The good thing, though, is that you can still see a video of the 1 second ad here, and a 5 second version here.

We were watching the game on the BBC in England, so this was the first time that I've ever watched the Super Bowl with no ads. Not even British ads this year, which was great. Especially since a lot of people in England don't like watching the NFL because of all the ads.

Anyway, congrats to the NY Giants fans - it was a close game. Condolences go out to my fellow Pats fans!

"Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg has announced that he will host the Snoop Bowl, a youth football game to be held in Arizona the day before the Super Bowl.

The sixth annual game will feature the Snoop Dogg All-Stars, a California youth football team coached by Snoop Dogg, pitted against local Arizona youth football players.

Football legends including Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart will be on-hand, with all proceeds going toward his charity, the Matt Leinart Foundation, which supports disadvantage youth through learning centres, sports activities and granting wishes.

"The Snoop Bowl gives the kids a reason to work and play hard throughout the season, knowing that it all culminates on this day," Snoop Dogg said in a statement. "It is about so much more than the game, the Snoop Youth Football League gives kids hope and meaning outside of just the sport."

The Snoop Bowl is set to take place February 2, 2008 at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona."

Eels plan to make the shortest Super Bowl TV ad break ever! If it goes ahead I believe that the proposed one second advert for Eels' new 'Useless Trinkets' album will be the shortest ever TV ad used during the Super Bowl.

The one second spot would feature Eels founder/frontman Mark Oliver Everett (A.K.A. "E") saying the first letter of the new album title - the letter "U".

Ad space during the SuperBowl on US TV is approximately $100,000 a second - the full ad, a whopping five seconds will be put up on YouTube following the game.

Essential Eels and Useless Trinkets are both out on Monday 21st January, 2008.
