Saxophonist Donn Bynum has made his living playing with legends like the Commodores, Bootsy Collins, Brothers Johnson and more. The summer of 2008 marks his debut solo release with Do You Feel Me. Available now at CDBaby.com, Do You Feel Me is dynamic testament to this master tradesman’s many years of sharing his music around the world.

More About the Artist:

While other kids were making college plans, saxophonist Donn Bynum was creating a future with his horn. At the tender age of 18, Bynum joined legendary Bootsy Collins for several shows before attending Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. After graduating, Bynum joined the world famous Commodores and ventured on several world tours of Europe, Asia, Africa, as well as the USA. Playing sax, flute, keyboards and drums, Bynum would also join the Commodores for concerts in Bermuda, Nassau Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands with an appearance on the “Motown 25th Anniversary“ television show.

Bynum performed for several years with international recording artists The Brothers Johnson, and appeared on the TV show Motown Live. Later, Bootsy’s Rubber Band called him back for more international touring and recording. During this time, he played on Bootsy’s CD entitled Bootsy’s New Rubber Band Live in Japan.

As a studio musician, Bynum was featured on the song “Make My Funk The P-Funk,” along with funk master keyboardist Bernie Worrell. Bynum has also recorded and performed with stellar award-winning gospel artist Kenny Smith and many others.

Do You Feel Me is his solo debut.

Subrosa Union, a power-rock trio out of Austin, has something of a loaded name. Although “sub-rosa” directly translated from Latin means “under the rose” - an ancient symbol denoting a secret - their particular brand of bluesy-reggae rock should be no secret to Laredo. The group has played at Jamboozie for two consecutive years, helping to build a stable fan base in the Gateway City, said drummer Paul Valenzuela.

In a play on the words “sabrosa” and “sub-rosa,” the group is actually a “tasty secret,” he said. And the El Paso transplants play much more than reggae, he said

“We’re whatever you want us to be; we play every card,” Valenzuela said. “It sounds like a melting pot of Carlos Santana, Bob Marley and Stevie Ray Vaughan. It’s bluesy-reggae-rock-roots with Latin grooves. It’s flavorful tunes and it’s all about blending heart, soul, reggae, funk.”

Santana, Marley and Vaughan had an indirect influence on the group by virtue of the musicians’ enormous, palpable effect on their individual music genres and the industry itself, he explained.

The group, which finds itself “rehearsing Sixth Street and the Warehouse district” more than 200 times per year, has opened for bands like Authority Zero, 311 and reggae-ska favorites, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper and Fishbone.

Songs such as “247 420 Everyday” and “Save Me” off Subrosa Union’s album “Looking Forward,” released earlier this year, have found plenty of success on legal downloading sites such as iTunes, Valenzuela said along with stating “It appears our songs have been spring break favorites”.

But the success is not measured in dollars, but rather the sharing of their music, he added. “We really don’t look at it as a money situation,” Valenzuela said. “We look at it as it being a platform that any person in any household (can get our music.)” The best part of “sharing the music,” however, is the live shows, he said.

Mike Anaya, Lead guitarist, vocalist and frontman for Subrosa Union, stated that “the experiences he and his bandmates have had over this past year have been incredible. We toured the Middle East for our troops known as Southwest Asia (SWA) in over six countries to include a guided missile carrier in the Perisan Gulf… flying on C17s, C130s, SNAP 15s plus helos from the beach to the ship was an adventure in itself. Taking a brief two week respite before heading to Korea, Japan, Guam and Hawaii to continue on another four week tour for the troops showed us the diversity in sites but nothing less than the high morale and dedication of our troops in serving our nation”. “Incredible and most humbling for all of us” stated, Chris Paulos, bassist and flash MC.

“Our shows brings out a part of us that a CD can’t really tell,” said Valenzuela. “Being extra high energy is important, and so is playing good music that is tasteful and spicy at the same time … also (important is) giving the fans more than they expect … In the next few weeks, Subrosa Union will be finishing up there album in North Hollywood at The Hives, the same studio used by 311″, Valenzuela said.

Anaya stated “working with Mike Cosgrove from Alien Ant Farm as our producer after these tours has given us a new sense of reality and maturity”. “We are looking back and thankful for what we have as we definitely look forward… and in all this we owe our fans a huge amount of thanks for seeing us through and through…”

ARTIST DESCRIPTION

Founded in 2001, Gravity Co. started out as a side project, working on the soundtrack to the computer game Trans, side project turned to full-time and they haven’t looked back since.

In early 2002 Gravity Co. made their debut, releasing their first single ‘Away’ accompanied by an art-school style video directed by Gravity Co.’s Producer Georgi Stanev. The bands first try topped MM TV’s (Bulgaria’s most popular music television) International Airplay Chart, holding on to the #1 spot for three consecutive weeks. ‘Away’ would later be included in NovaXposure - the monthly compilation released by ‘Radio Ventures’ with songs by Elton John, Sarah Connor, Alcazar and others.

Gravity’s second single ‘Mr. No One’ would set the critics straight, as to the bands potential, taking a play-list space in BMG’s official weekly video compilation, alongside Carlos Santana and Christina Aguilera.

The band stretched the boundaries further when Bill Withers granted official permission to record and release a cover version of his all time classic ‘Ain’t No Sunshine.

‘Away’, ‘Mr. No One’ and ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ all made the cut for Gravity Co.’s highly anticipated debut album ‘U’ released December 13th 2002. Gravity, have since been identified by an original electro pop sound, with warm vocal melodies over pumping electro beats.

An instant success, ‘U’ brought home the first music awards - ‘Best Debut’ and ‘Best Pop/Dance Album’, from MM TV’s annual awards (the Bulgarian equivalent of the Brits).

Having released two celebrated albums, known for their engaging stage antics - performing full capacity venues and supporting the likes of the Stereo MC’s, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and more recently Ladytron - Gravity Co. teamed up with a wide range of popular Bulgarian DJ’s to remix some of the band’s hits.

AWARDS

- ‘Best Debut’ and ‘Best Pop/Dance Album’, from MM TV’s annual awards (the Bulgarian equivalent of the Brits).
- Holding on to the #1 spot for three consecutive weeks in the MM TV’s (Bulgaria’s most popular music television) International Airplay Chart.
- ‘Wings’, the first video by a Bulgarian Artist with airplay on MTV! Boasting Giorgio de Chirico inspired 3D animation - courtesy of one of Bulgaria’s finest Alexander Sokerov - ‘Wings’ would be played 13 weeks running on MTV’s World Chart Express.
- ‘Best Band’ from the annual MM TV awards of 2005. An additional ‘Band of the Year’ award was presented by Melo TV Mania’s annual awards.
- ‘Best Rock/Alternative Song’ for ‘What I Want’ (‘Instinct’ 2005) from the annual MM TV awards 2006
- On the 25 of March 2007, minutes before taking the stage to contribute a mind-blowing ‘Empty World’ against a multi-media frenzy, on the night of the BG Radio Music Awards Ceremony, the boys were called to the stage to collect the ‘Best Band Award’.
- Gravity Co. are the uncontested winners at the MMTV Music Awards, with the record 4 statuettes:
Best Pop/Dance song - Empty World
Best Pop/Dance Album - Mixedup
Best Band
Best Music Video - Empty World /Directed by Valeri Milev/

MUSIC QUOTES

The debut album “U” by the most successive Bulgarian’s band Gravity Co. is from those releases that on the first listen, you knew something amazing was happening but didn’t quite grasp it. By the second listen, you are hooked. By the third, fourth, and fifth listens, you realized you had stumbled upon a rare gem. The album range somewhere, between pop and electronic music with eminent contemporary elements, which sometimes even goes beyond the expectations. But to those with patience and an ear for the sublime, this will become one of the most rewarding and satisfying electronica albums of the decade. The sheer talent in this record is staggeringly high. Not only these guys have reached a new tier of studio production and aesthetic precision, but on top of that, the vocals are truly incredible. More importantly, it’s noticeable in the sequencing and mastering of each perfectly-layered sound. Listen on a solid, high-end system, and all the textures will open up and dance across the room in perfect balance. “U” has achieved a new level of greatness and this is easily some of the best music albums you could have in your collection.
- AMAdea Records, BULGARIA

SwampDaWamp (pronounced swamp duh wamp) is the creation of singer-songwriter-guitarist Gig Michaels. Hailing from Charlotte, NC, SwampDaWamp is the powerful and creative collaboration of six talented and seasoned musicians: Gig Michaels (lead vocals & acoustic guitar); David Lee (drums); Michael Hough (guitar & vocals); Keith Inman (guitar); Mike Huffman (keyboards, B3 & vocals); and Cody Bennett (bass). After their successful run with a critically acclaimed self-titled debut Swampdawamp is ready get those fires burning again with 2.0. Gig Michaels is back with his from the gut vocals and he comes to the table with a full deck ready to deal on rocking blues tracks like “Fire In The Hole” and “Shoebox.” The Swampdawamp train just keeps rolling down the tracks with straight up southern flavored rock and plenty of blues licks in the mix to keep fans with many tastes interested. The band mixes an appealing blend of rock, blues and country that has no age barriers or demands a musical preference on their listeners. Currently there is a pre-release edition of 2.0 on the Big Penny Entertainment label that includes interviews and a studio rehearsal session. Music fans and collectors will be snagging this edition up quickly as most certainly it is destined to become a collector’s item once the inventory runs out and the full-length edition is released later this year.

While known for their free-spirited get down and boogie live shows, SwampDaWamp has accumulated a vast and rapidly growing fan base that will surely be pleased with their new studio effort. Their music touches people of all ages and backgrounds proving that the contagious and original SwampDaWamp sound is universally engaging and down to earth just like the band members that produce it.

Hailing from the great Northwest, Amelia, the band, not a person, is ready to fill your head with a rich pageant of musical tapestries and atmospheres on their new release A Long, Lovely List of Repairs, on the Adrenaline imprint.

Even though the band knew how people would interpret their name, the lead singer Teisha Helgerson commented, “We thought about how it sounded rolling off the tongue, how it looked on the page, and how it would represent our music.” That kind of go-for-it-anyway attitude typifies their musical approach and their ever-widening appeal with their audience.

A Long, Lovely List of Repairs features Tiesha’s dreamy vocals along with her contributions on drums and the rest of the musical montage is created by core members Jesse Emerson (upright bass, electric bass, acoustic, piano, percussion, autoharp) and Scott Weddle (acoustic & electric guitars, electric bass, vocals, bass harmonica, glockenspiel, marxaphone, percussion, loops). Noted are the many instruments that the three members combined play and how it enables their music to be just as complex and emotive because of their strong versatility. The music is a mature mixture of folk and roots with reflective lyrics and thoughtful expressions. Rather than lulling you to sleep, Amelia’s music will disarm you and pull you in like a magnet and will not let go.

A Long, Lovely List of Repairs offers memorable tracks such as “Eyesore”, “The End” and the closer “Here We Are.” With their strong roots based in Portland Oregon, the band has realized tremendous success on the West Coast and with an impending tour this year is a sure bet to expand their fan base nationwide.

Visit the Amelia website for more information including album orders, pictures, media and more.

CHAINDRIVEN’s video Area 51 was selected out of hundreds of videos submitted to the “Webstock: Battle of the Fans video contest.” The top two bands battled it out at the Key Club in Hollywood June 12th while listeners got to view and vote for their favorite band during the live webcast. On June 16th KLOS announced that CHAINDRIVEN was the fans’ favorite.

BIO:
CHAINDRIVEN was formed in 2002 in Santa Clarita, CA by Vocalist, Mando Medina; Guitarist, Dave Dzaich; Bassist, Scott Herron; and Drummer, Bob Slattery. The band was spawned when Scott and Dave decided to start a metal band. After a few false starts with various drummers, they found Bob. He had just recently returned from Europe, and fate had it that they would all cross paths. After months of auditioning vocalists, Mando joined the line up. He was fresh from his enlistment in the military, and he was offered the job right at the end of their first rehearsal together. At that point, they knew the combination of all four individuals had a certain raw magic. CHAINDRIVEN’s first full length, self-titled CD was released in January 2008, and has just started to create some buzz in the music world. The band’s hard-hitting, crunchy, driving sound has hailed venues such as The Whiskey-a-Go-Go, The Knitting Factory, and The Key Club among other legendary stops along the Sunset Strip and surrounding areas. Most recently, CHAINDRIVEN added a second guitarist, Chris Neil, to the line up. His personal style rounds out CHAINDRIVEN’s unique jaw-clenching sound. CHAINDRIVEN is currently working on their second album, continuing to gig, and enjoying every minute playing for their growing fan base.

So if you would like to hear some great Blues by some by some of the best musicians anywhere in one of the worlds most beautiful Countries (Norway of course) then here is a great opportunity. Os is an interesting place. Os is situated in the southern part of Bergenshalvøya - The Bergen Peninsula - where the fjord and the coast meet. To the north Os borders on the city Bergen. Strong music traditions, with choirs and bands at a high level, have traditionally been the most important aspect of the cultural life at Os. A weekend at the end of June is the time for the blue notes. Osøren Blues & Jazzfestival has been arranged each summer since 1999, and has attracted an imposing group of musicians at a high national, and even international level. The blues artists are mostly brought to Os from other places, while the jazz artists are generally local.
