Guitarist Robert Robert recently released his 2nd smooth jazz CD, City Lights, which has been well received by his fans, and selling well at live events. One of his songs, “Monaco,” can currently be heard on smooth radio around the nation.

Harris grew up in Detroit, Michigan. It was there his musical aspirations started at the early age of 12 when he played trumpet through junior high and high school. At 16, he began playing guitar, and within a year was playing throughout the Detroit area.

Robert made his way to the Seattle area where he began touring. He spent several years touring the West Coast before heading south to Los Angeles. Within a year of being in L.A., Robert was signed with West Management/Record Company. Richard West, founder of the company, became his manager. West Production produced Harris’ first CD project. Robert spent the next 10 years in L.A. working as a studio musician, as well as arranging and producing projects. A natural talent for the engineering side of the recording business, Robert graduated to head engineer at the control panels. However, he missed performing and moved to Central Florida, where his band, the Robert Harris group, is now one performing.

Featured in the December 21, 2007 issue of the Orlando Sentinel, The Robert Harris Group is one of the premier Jazz / R&B groups in central Florida. In addition to their regular club dates, they have performed at the New Smryna Jazz Festival, the Winter Park Art Festival, The Seminole Jazz Series, and the Kissimmee Jazz Festivals, and recently The Daytona Jazz Festival where they opened for Walter Beasley, Spyro Gyra, and Jean-Luc Ponty. This year Robert opened for Mindi Abair at the Art and Music Festival at Lake Eola in Orlando, and Richard Elliot at the Winter Park Art Festival.

The group is currently scheduled for several national festivals next year. ie: Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, Berks Jazz Fest, Atlanta Jazz Festival, and more. The Robert Harris group has been asked back to perform at several concert events hosted by Orlando’s premiere smooth jazz station WLOQ 103.1, and Tampa Bays WSJT, and WGRV the Groove Florida’s east coast station.

A few years ago Robert had the privilege of playing with Kirk Whalum and Warren Hill’s band on Warren Hills smooth jazz cruise. You can also see Robert playing an acoustic duet with Peter White on the roberharrismusic.com photo page. His first CD, Cool Breeze. was featured on several radio stations around the world.

So if you would like to hear some great Blues by some by some of the best musicians anywhere in one of the worlds most beautiful Countries (Norway of course) then here is a great opportunity. Os is an interesting place. Os is situated in the southern part of Bergenshalvøya - The Bergen Peninsula - where the fjord and the coast meet. To the north Os borders on the city Bergen. Strong music traditions, with choirs and bands at a high level, have traditionally been the most important aspect of the cultural life at Os. A weekend at the end of June is the time for the blue notes. Osøren Blues & Jazzfestival has been arranged each summer since 1999, and has attracted an imposing group of musicians at a high national, and even international level. The blues artists are mostly brought to Os from other places, while the jazz artists are generally local.

Already renowned as the vanguard of creative content, the New Generation Arts Festival (NGA) notoriously champions the independent cause of showcasing the brightest emerging graduate talent in the arts world today. Previously supported by a host of celebrities including model Erin O’Connor, social commentator Germaine Greer, comedian Frank Skinner, artist Anthony Gormley and author Philip Pullman, this year the New Generation Arts Festival, organised by Birmingham City University and supported by Arts Council England, celebrates youth, diversity and the rise of digital culture.
The topic of this year’s festival is Digital Utopia, where the exploration of the digital theme takes centre stage through a dynamic blend of celebrated talent and hotly tipped emerging artists on the verge of international success. Pushing the boundaries of innovation, 2008 will feature over 35 massive performances, exhibitions and special features including exhilarating collaborations with musician Julian Lloyd Webber, acclaimed digital artist Jane Prophet, applauded curator Mona Casey, and the extravagant up and coming VJ/DJ club collective Project X Presents. The eminent Big Debate, with a panel of renowned guests, chaired by the BBC’s technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones, will explore whether the digital revolution equals More Power or More Powerless?
A centre piece of the festival is the Mobile Phone Portraiture which seeks to engage the local Birmingham community by inviting them to submit mobile phone pictures of “Life in Birmingham”. The photo gallery will be exhibited on the BBC Big Screens across the city alongside ‘Billboard Narratives’ supported by the Betty Trask winning novelist Nicola Monaghan. By posting storylines on billboards located around the city commuters will be encouraged to contribute their ideas and responses via text message which will be developed by a network of writers, allowing members of the public to fashion their own unique story board.
One of Europe’s largest showcases for graduate talent, the New Generation Arts Festival 2008, organised by Birmingham City University, kicks off on the 5th June 2008 and is jam packed with over 16 days of digital art based euphoria. The festival aims to be the ultimate platform for showcasing new graduate talent alongside established names within the framework of the modern digital era - once again reinforcing Birmingham’s status as a centre of culture, creativity and digital innovation.

The final two acts have been announced for Vince Power’s sizzling hot Summer bonanza, The Hop Farm Festival.

Laura Marling whose critically acclaimed debut album ‘Alas I Cannot Swim’ released on Virgin Records received a rapturous response, has exploded onto the scene from her humble Berkshire beginnings. ‘Alas I Cannot Swim’ marks the arrival of a major talent brave enough to swim against the commercial tide’, NME.

Having won over a legion of fans, Laura completed nine tours last year, including three headline tours, opening for Adam Green, Jamie T, Rufus Wainwright and Devendra Banhart and a string of summer festival appearances, Glastonbury included. A breathtaking appearance on ‘Later…’ led even Jools Holland to whisper to Marling that her performance was ‘absolutely amazing’.

Described as ‘A precious, timeless artist’ by The Independent, Hop Farm brings you the opportunity to experience Laura Marling’s charm for yourself this summer.

Popular Los Angeles based indie outfit, Everest, abandon the glam and glitz of Hollywood to trek across the pond showcasing their formidable live set and tunes at this year’s Hop Farm Festival. Already stacking up rave reviews for their debut album, Ghost Notes, the boys from the West Coast look set to bring their unique brand of retro-esque melodies to the UK masses.

The band may be new but these guys have been kicking around the L.A indie scene for years, coming from a diverse array of bands like Sebadoh to Folk Implosion to The Watson Twins. They have finally come together to kick start a brand new era and to resurrect the sounds from the past.

The Hop Farm Festival is Vince Power’s landmark return to the competitive festival marketplace, once again demonstrating his ongoing creativity that earned him the media-given title of ‘Godfather of Gigs’. This festival is set to become the most musically focused event of its kind in the UK this year.

With legendary headline act Neil Young appearing with Primal Scream, Supergrass, My Morning Jacket, Rufus Wainwright and Guillemots. The Hop Farm Festival’s newest acts will further underline the rise and importance of the new prestigious Vince Power Music Group, which devised Europe’s most exciting festival Benicassim in Spain – the continents ‘Glasto del Sol’ experience.

Vince Power says of these latest editions “We are extremely pleased by the quality of this significant line up and are proud and excited to bring this very unique event to our audience.”

Tickets are now on sale through See Tickets and further acts will be announced throughout April.

Indie behemoths, The Charlatans, Gary Numan, the ‘Godfather of electronic music’, hotly tipped dirt rock trio White Denim and abstract jazz-sters, Polar Bear have been confirmed as the first four music acts to perform at the much-anticipated Mighty Boosh Festival, which takes place at the Hop Farm in Kent on the 5th July, 2008.
Needing no introduction are one of England’s most esteemed bands, The Charlatans, who are back in the hot seat with their tenth studio album, ‘You Cross My Path’ and have gone the Radiohead route by giving it away absolutely free. With well over 90,000 downloads so far and rave reviews all round, Tim Burgess and the boys bring their blend of edgy, well crafted pop tunes to the Mighty Boosh Festival.

Widely known for his chart-topping 1979 hits “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” and “Cars” as much as he is for his odd-ball appearance and genre-hopping experimental tracks, Numan’s influential signature style has been classified as everything from experimental, synthrock, synthpop, dark wave, new wave, industrial rock and post-punk, making him the perfect act to accompany the equally experimental and eccentric Mighty Boosh boys. Gary’s legacy speaks for itself, and of course the boys are thrilled at his confirmation. Noel states;
“Having Gary on board is mental! He is a hero of mine and was always a first choice, having him perform at our festival is almost surreal”.

Next up we have the awesome White Denim. Hailing from Austin, Texas this band is certain to enthral and entertain the Boosh revellers. As a feverishly creative ensemble this band have smashed in to the good books of music reviewers, garnering praise from the likes of NME who call them “local heroes, who are spelling out the future of dirt-rock in blood” and The Guardian who said they have “great riff and tunes, and like a genuine rock’n’roll band, sound genuinely hyperactive and deranged”.

White Denim have toured extensively including dazzling showcases at SXSW Music Festival, and caused a massive stir at the recent CMJ Music Marathon. They also received the award of “Best New Band” at the 2008 Austin Music Awards. With their debut full-length LP release, entitled ‘Workout Holiday’, just around the corner, this is the perfect platform for the guys to introduce themselves to the UK’s buzzing live music scene.

On a more experimental tip, abstract jazz collective, Polar Bear, compliment the quirkiness of the Boosh boys by bringing to the stage their unique blend of offbeat compositions. Music press have tipped these guys for big things. The Observer Music Monthly say, “Polar Bear blast out of the past, full of straight, cool school skills, and detonate the past, bursting with edgy, forward-looking lust.”

Of course, no Mighty Boosh festival would be complete without a performance from the boys themselves. They will headline the day’s events with a comedy extravaganza on the main stage.
Entertaining 30,000 fans, the Perrier, NME and RTS Award winners Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding AKA Howard Moon and Vince Noir, will delight fans with their magical and comical wizardry and take us on a hilarious journey from their Nabootique homeland to the very ends of the comedy universe!

The Boosh is also revered in the musical world and rub shoulders with the great and the greater of the music scene. The festival will therefore perfectly fuse the finest musical acts with their own spectacle, with the boys inviting some of their own special favourites to take to the stage with them!

Says Noel Fielding “We’ve never played a music festival before and a comic has never headlined at a festival before so we are seizing the opportunity and doing both!”

Further acts to be announced shortly.

“Seriously catchy punk pop…” – Kerrang! April 2008

South Africa’s Rising Stars Return for Yet Another Slice of Melody Driven Pop.

“Louder Than Bombs” is the second single taken off The Parlotones South African Music Awards winning album, “Radiocontrolledrobot”, which will be crash landing on our shores in May!

Hot on the heels of their sold out UK dates earlier this year, the band make a welcome return to England and Scotland with a bunch of brand new gigs that look set to sizzle the stage with a dash of Parlotones magic once again. Coupled with jam packed South African and European tours, the band’s profile is set to rocket this Summer.

First stop on the tour will be Switzerland where they have been invited to perform at the Bscene 2008 Festival. The Bscene Festival is the biggest indoor music festival in Switzerland with over 50 bands performing in 8 different venues. After having sell-out arenas for the past 11 years, the 12th Annual BScene Festival is expected to draw a music hungry 10,000 plus strong crowd.

After storming Switzerland, the boys will rampage on to Germany which will see them blitz five shows, three of which will be opening for NME cover darlings, The Wombats during their sold out shows in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg.

Next stop will be 11 stellar shows in the UK, one of which being at the 100 club, a highlight of the bands tour. A legendary venue, it has seen the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Sex Pistols rocking on stage.

Two of the shows in the UK will see The Parlotones open for multi platinum selling Ocean Colour Scene who were publicly praised by Noel Gallagher for “Keeping the rock ‘n roll flame burning during the 90’s”

Winding up the tour will be 16 shows in South Africa where the band is experiencing phenomenal success with sold out performances weeks in advance throughout the country. Their two albums, “A World Next Door To Yours” and “Radiocontrolledrobot” went Gold simultaneously. The former went Gold in three months and is steadily heading for platinum success.

This marks the next level for The Parlotones. Don’t miss out.

Selected shows in South Africa will be filmed for an upcoming DVD release.

“Louder Than Bombs” will be released in the UK on May 5th, 2008 and “Radiocontrolledrobot” will drop on May 26th.
