Big Wheel are delighted to present a stellar line-up for the first installment of Snakes & Ladders, the latest addition to the Notting Hill Arts Club stable, taking place Sunday 17th February, 2008.
Headlining, we bring you Paloma Faith. Surely one of the most exciting live acts to come out of London in the last year, burlesque singer Paloma is no ordinary musician. Glamour, crazed costumes and improvised theatrics embellish her Billie Holiday-influenced songs and heartfelt lyrics. Currently in the throws of signing a record deal you can be sure to hear more from this lady in the coming months.
Also gracing the stage are Liverpool three piece, Peter and the Wolf. These DIY folkists combine deliciously askew lyricism with shuffling acoustics that have raised many an eyebrow. When live, the band's set-up is taken straight from the unconventional, delivering what is certain to be a fun and dynamic performance.
Bobby Cook and The Sleepers, loved by punters and press alike have been tipped for big things. Their melodic songs combined with a great stage show make this London-based quintet one to look out for in 08.
Fresh from supporting Adele, Alan Powell is making big waves. Insightful lyrics are delivered by this one man singer songwriter who brings edge and passion to a genre that is at the moment over populated by lesser talents.
To kick off a night of great music The Scoundrels deliver a blend of indie ska and rock n roll. Bringing the hot sauce to the occasion this four piece are playing a rare acoustic set.
