Exclusive: Mayday Parade interview
The video for "Stay" is an emotional ride through the pain and fear of losing a loved one, as front-man Derek Sanders delivers a powerful performance. The song itself is a ballad that anyone can relate to and the video beautifully compliments that.
MTV declares, "some heart-touching string arrangements gives the track that 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' blockbuster quality". Make sure you've got some tissues ready for this one (link below)!
Mayday Parade has been touring in support of their hugely successful self-titled album (out now on ILG), whose #12 debut on Billboard's Top 200 marked a career high chart position as well as career high sales numbers. The album also reached #5 on iTunes' Album Chart on release day. The achievement is significant, as it marks a 30% increase in sales from their last career high, 2009's Anywhere But Here (Atlantic). Critics are in agreement, with Alternative Press awarding the album 3.5 out of 4 stars, while MTV's Buzzworthy Blog praises their "more holistic approach to songwriting," and AbsolutePunk loves their "solid pop-rock with massive hooks."
Mayday Parade first burst onto the scene with their 2007 debut A Lesson in Romantics which received immense praise from critics and fans alike. AbsolutePunk claimed it was sure to become "one of your most played [albums] of the summer." It went on to sell more than 170,000 copies and reached the Top Ten on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Mayday Parade is vocalist/piano Derek Sanders, bassist Jeremy Lenzo, guitarists Alex Garcia and Brooks Betts and drummer/vocalist Jake Bundrick.
Mayday Parade's Self-Titled CD is now available online at iTunes & Amazon.
