The Longsands release debut album 'Meet Me in Spanish City' with launch party June 8 @ Newcastle University

'Meet Me In Spanish City' is the debut album from Newcastle five piece The Longsands, released June 11, 2012 through Unknown Soldier Records.

A confident collection of pure rock 'n' roll anthems, 'Meet Me In Spanish City' boasts power, melody and truth.

The Longsands' honest approach to songwriting permeates through each track, recalling great guitar bands from across the decades.

The album begins with the anthem "Worlds Collide", a truly infectious track featuring the bands trademark hooks.

Forthcoming single "Shut Your Mouth" (released 4th June) is a brash and self-assured guitar-pop track, while "Let Love Rain On You" changes the album's pace, showing a more reflective but equally powerful side to the bands songwriting.

Closing with the classic rock "Spirals", the album more than proves the album's worth as one of the most striking British guitar records of the year.

The Longsands are already a staple live band in the North of England and look set to truly breakthrough to other territories with their debut album.

The band have toured up and down the country, gaining themselves a legion of loyal fans in the process - including Bruce Foxton of The Jam and Steve White of The Style Council.

With their foot-stomping melodies and huge choruses, it's easy to see why the band excel in the live setting.

A band with their tongue firmly in their collective cheeks, the band decided that creating music wasn't quite enough for them and recently embarked upon a viral internet campaign that saw them gain exposure across the world.

Dubbed 'The Longsands Challenges', the band have challenged sports stars to a series of games - starting with a conker fight against none other than Mike Tyson! The band have also had an egg and spoon race with cricketer Steve Harmison, played darts against Ricky Hatton and paper, scissor, stone with Aston Villa's Shay Given.

'Meet Me in Spanish City' is available through all good digital retailers on 11th June.
