Jack Robert Hardman releases debut album

Jack Robert Hardman

Jack Robert Hardman writes and records his own brand of quirky pop music from his home studio in Ascot.

With nods to the Beach Boys, Phil Spector and Simon and Garfunkel, his eponymous debut album follows the release of the three singles "Sorry To George", "Famous" and "Lights of London".

The album was written and recorded 'hermit style' between 2009 and 2011.

In Jack's own words, "I wrote around 150 songs in that period, and filtered through to get the strongest / most interesting 10 songs. I like to mix traditional pop songwriting techniques with lo-fi / quirky production ideas. It (hopefully) creates catchy, yet unusual sounding music. I produced the whole album myself and tried to experiment with sounds as much as possible. I aimed to use production and melodies effectively to create different colours and textures. I programmed / played every instrument myself on the record. The songs give off moods and feelings, and while some of the lyrics may be deeply personal to my own life or emotions, I try and keep it quite ambiguous and accessible."

The album was mixed by Adrian Breakspear (Lana Del Rey / Wretch 32 / Crystal Castles).

"His sound and writing have grown in range, and daring every time we've heard him" - Tom Robinson (BBC 6music)

To date Jack has received support from Tom Robinson (BBC 6music), Huw Stephens (BBC radio 1), John Kennedy (Xfm), Linda Serck (BBC Berkshire), Simon Raymonde and Jim Gellatly (Amazing Radio), The 405, The Von Pip Musical Express and Alt Sounds.
