Following the success of 2008’s single “Disguise” and a high profile support slot with US legends Bon Jovi at Twickenham Stadium, Ivyrise return this August with their breathtaking new single “1000 Feet”, set for release August 31st, 2009.

A joyful attack upon feeling lost, “1000 feet” seeks hope through confusion as frontman and writer Ben Falinski captures a sense of getting away from troubles and looking to the future through beautifully soaring, driving melodies over the sound of powerful and haunting rock-fuelled guitars.

Formed in London in 2007 and influenced by classic rock and roll bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Who and The Rolling Stones, Ivyrise quickly signed to Stage Records and began touring throughout the UK supporting 90s rock favourites Kula Shaker.

Watch “Tips” video:

The release of debut single “Tips” and the Radio 2 playlisted “Disguise,” which also featured a Jason Nevins remix, followed shortly after as Ivyrise established a reputation as one of the hottest new bands in the UK.

Attracting a wealth of fans, including none other than Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey, “Disguise” charted at Number 2 in the UK Independent Chart and helped the band win a London Paper competition to support US rockers Bon Jovi on their Lost Highway World Tour alongside The Feeling.

Following chart success in 2008 Ivyrise entered Konk Studios in North London to write and record their debut album with celebrated producers Alan Moulder (The Killers, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins) and Ben Mason (The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight).

Throughout the album twisting melodies crown sophisticated pop song writing; ambitious but instantly accessible. It is sure to see Ivyrise take rank amongst Britain’s finest and most successful bands upon its release. “1000 Feet” is the perfect introduction to their sound and splendour.

“1000 Feet” with additional tracks “Mystery” and “Over The Moon” will be available on CD and Download on 31st August.

Ivyrise are: Ben Falinski, frontman, piano; Dan Tanner, lead guitar; Liam Malson, drums; Mark Nagle, bass guitar.

“That kid [Luke] is incredible…” – Richie Sambora, Bon Jovi

“How does a 19-year old know so much about life and loss, the trials of the working man, and blues rock? We have no idea, but we love Luke Mulholland’s sound – and we’re proud to call him our own.” – Meredith Goldstein, Boston Globe

Luke Mulholland is a guitar virtuoso who, in his late teens, has already recorded and released four full-length albums and completed several tours of the United States and Canada, opening for bands such as Bon Jovi and Mountain along the way.

A prodigious songwriter and arranger as well as a gritty blues vocalist, Luke has just released his most accomplished album yet, ‘Further’, and provided nationally syndicated radio program The Joey Reynolds Show its new theme song.

He currently resides in Boston, where he is attending the world-renown Berklee School of Music.

Last Sunday, December 9th, The 79th Royal Variety Performance aired on ITV in the UK. The show took place in Liverpool at the Empire Theatre, in the presence of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

One of the standout performances of the night was by Seal. He opened the show with a great version of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”. The other performers on stage along with Seal were quite interesting – there was a lot going on. Stilt walkers, acrobats, a choir and more, all with a Beatles-esque ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ feel about it.

For information, and more acts that performed on the show, including Bon Jovi, Teatro and Joan Rivers go to: 79th Royal Variety Performance on Band Weblogs.

Seal also performed his positive and uplifting single, “Amazing” off of his fifth studio album, ‘System’. It’s good to see Seal back on the scene. He really is a class act, no doubt about it. With his white suit and scarf that night, he looked like a million bucks.

It’s no surprise that “Amazing” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category!

Watch Seal and Heidi Klum video – People Magazine Shoot with “Amazing” as background music:

Seal has a blog! His website is in blog format and features entries and videos. Seal’s wife, model Heidi Klum is in some of the videos that are posted as well – like the People Magazine shoot. The blog is a great place for fans to keep up to date on Seal’s music, news and everyday life.

Also Live Earth locations around the world: Hamburg, Germany, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Tokyo, Japan, Shanghai, China, Antarctica, Johannesburg, South Africa, Sydney, Australia and Washington, D.C.

Live Earth is going to be the most talked about music event of the summer. I can say that with confidence, and there are many reasons why people will be discussing the worldwide concerts that will be taking place to help raise awareness about climate change and global warming. You could spend days debating the subject. For instance, the fact that Al Gore is the co-chair of Live Earth is just enough information to have caused a mass media feeding frenzy. Some people like the idea of Al Gore’s involvement, some people don’t and they all have their reasons for it.

Then there are the questions about the concert goers who will be traveling to the shows and all of the equipment that needs to get to the shows and the “carbon footprint” that the concerts will leave behind. Is it justifiable?

And of course with Live Earth founder Kevin Wall’s recent announcement of concert venue locations and headlining acts like Madonna and the Red Hot Chili Peppers brings to light a fresh debate of more carbon footprints and is this hypocrisy?

Quite a few people that I’ve talked to about Live Earth think that rather than having only a handful of concert locations around the world for thousands of people to have to travel to, why not put on local gigs? To Think Globally, Act Locally, with local clubs set up to host a special Live Earth night.

Say for example, if Radiohead and Supergrass, two bands that happen to be from my town which is Oxford, were to announce that they are headlining Live Earth down the road at The Zodiac or the New Theatre for the locals – that would be brilliant. Of course this is just a hypothetical wish. Seriously though, have there been any local arrangements made throughout the towns and communities for Live Earth?

I obviously don’t have all the answers and am simply a bystander without a car, who has no plans to travel to the shows but will be happy to watch the Live Earth concerts either online or on TV. However, if there is a local event happening in Oxford, that would be a different story. I would be there with bells on.
