Norah Jones announces TV appearances on Late Show With David Letterman, Colbert Report, Good Morning America and The View in support of her new album ‘The Fall’

VH1 will present the world premiere of the music video for Norah Jones’ “Chasing Pirates,” which debuts online at VH1.com today Tuesday, October 27, 2009 and will air on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown at 9AM ET on Saturday, October 31.

“Chasing Pirates” is the lead single from Norah Jones’ highly anticipated upcoming album The Fall, which will be released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17.

The video, which was shot in Jones’ hometown of New York City, was directed by Rich Lee, who has worked on the visual effects for all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Lee has also directed music videos by everyone from Fergie (“Clumsy”) to Michael Buble (“Haven’t Met You Yet”).

Jones has also announced a first run of TV appearances around the release of The Fall.

The multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter will be appearing on CBS Late Show With David Letterman (November 11), Comedy Central The Colbert Report (November 18), and ABC Good Morning America (November 16) and The View (November 23).

“Chasing Pirates,” which was featured on Rolling Stone’s “Hot List,” immediately announces a new direction for Jones. Entertainment Weekly wrote that “Chasing Pirates’ is a bluesy surprise and welcome change of pace,” adding that “Jones’ voice remains as lovely as ever.”

“For this record, I just had a sound in my head,” Jones says. “I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different.”

That new sound began to present itself on one of the first songs Jones wrote for the project.

“About a year ago, I did some demos in my home studio,” she says. “I had some friends come in and we figured out a cool arrangement for ‘Chasing Pirates,’ with a cool drum part. It went somewhere I didn’t expect it to go, and that became a direction to look in.”

Live On Letterman Webcast Concert Will Be Streamed This Evening

Tim McGraw will launch his upcoming album, Southern Voice, with a series of national television appearances.

Tonight (October 12th) he will perform on Late Show with David Letterman and play an exclusive “Live on Letterman” webcast concert from the Ed Sullivan Theater.

The concert will be streamed on the “Late Show” website (www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show) tonight at approximately 8:00 PM, ET/5:00 PM, PT, and will also be simulcast live on 11 CBS RADIO country music stations across the country.

This Friday, October 16th, McGraw will return to the “Late Show” for a performance and an interview with Letterman.

Later this month, Tim McGraw will perform on TODAY (October 23) as part of the Toyota Concert Series on Rockefeller Plaza, The Jay Leno Show (October 27), where he’ll be joined by special guest Gregg Allman, and Ellen (October 29).

Southern Voice, Tim McGraw’s first studio album in two and a half years, will be released on October 20, 2009 by Curb Records and he will play a very special show that evening at the intimate Joe’s Bar in Chicago with special guest Chris Young.

Proceeds from the concert, which is sold out, will go to The Neighbor’s Keeper Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable fund created by Tim and his wife, Faith Hill.

Recorded with his longtime producer, Byron Gallimore (Faith Hill, Sugarland), Southern Voice’s 12 songs represent a new level of depth and intensity for McGraw; they tell unforgettable stories of lives lived and lessons learned, and reveal a man staring down what it means to be a father, a husband.

McGraw, who was recently featured on the cover of Billboard, gave the title track, which is also his current single, its national television debut last month on the NBC/NFL Network simulcast of “NFL OPENING KICKOFF 2009 PRESENTED BY EA SPORTS.”

Plans are currently being finalized for a major Tim McGraw tour, which will kick off in February 2010. Details will be announced shortly.

Paul McCartney to release Good Evening New York City November 17

Multi-Disc CD/DVD Special Package Features Dazzling Performances of Beatles, Wings and Solo Classics From Citi Field, Formerly Shea Stadium, Historic Site of The Beatles’ Landmark 1965 Concert

“It was three great nights for the band and for me personally it was very exciting to be back opening a new stadium on the site of the old Shea Stadium where we had played 44 years previously. Even more exciting because this time round you could hear us!”

Paul McCartney’s historic three-night musical christening of New York’s Citi Field, witnessed by 120,000-plus attendees and universally hailed as a concert experience for the ages, will be immortalized November 17, 2009 when Hear Music/Concord Music Group releases Good Evening New York City.

This momentous musical experience will be available in two formats: a 3-disc (2 CD + 1 DVD) standard edition and a 4-disc (2 CD + 2 DVD) deluxe version featuring expanded packaging and a bonus DVD including McCartney’s traffic-stopping, headline-making July 15 performance on the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee (including bonus numbers not aired on the Late Show with David Letterman broadcast). The set will also be made available in high quality vinyl.

In any configuration, the 30+ songs and nearly 3 hours of music comprising Good Evening New York City are a must-have for attendees wishing to relive the July 17, 18 & 21 shows, those who couldn’t get tickets and/or anyone interested in an audiovisual document of a living legend. Good Evening New York City marks McCartney’s 2nd release for Hear Music. The first was 2007’s highly acclaimed Memory Almost Full.

The standard version of Good Evening New York City will be available at participating Starbucks company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada and wherever music is sold.

As the inaugural musical event at Citi Field, the site of the former Shea Stadium, the July 2009 shows held special significance not only for McCartney but for generations of his fans. The shows were performed on the same hallowed ground that The Beatles, in 1965, played the 34-minute show that would set the precedent for the modern day stadium rock show–and where in 2008 McCartney joined Billy Joel for the final rock show before the original stadium’s demolition.

As documented on Good Evening New York City, “I’m Down” from the 1965 set list was revived for the Citi Field shows, albeit this time played through a PA that was not overpowered by screaming fans (though there were still several thousand who tried).

Other highlights of Good Evening New York City include faithful takes on Beatles classics “Drive My Car,” “Got To Get You Into My Life,” “The Long And Winding Road,” “Blackbird,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Back In The USSR,” “Paperback Writer,” “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude,” “Helter Skelter” and more, plus “Something” rendered on ukulele gifted to Paul by George Harrison, and a tribute to John Lennon in the form of a medley of “A Day In The Life” and “Give Peace A Chance.” Wings era chestnuts include “Band On The Run,” “My Love,” “Let Me Roll It” and the pyrotechnic tour de force of “Live And Let Die,” while timeless McCartney solo material ranges from “Here Today” to the upbeat “Flaming Pie” and “Dance Tonight” to a pair of numbers from Electric Arguments, the 2008 album released under the alias of The Fireman.

The concert footage featured on Good Evening New York City standard edition features concert footage directed by Paul Becher, who has overseen live visuals for McCartney for some 200 performances and counting. The 33-song 2 hour 40 minute performances were shot in High Definition using 15 cameras and digital footage incorporated from 75 Flipcams handed out to fans over the course of the three night stand. The audio mix, in both stereo and 5.1, was handled by longtime McCartney engineer Paul Hicks, whose credits include the recent Beatles remasters, The Beatles Anthology, Let It Be… Naked and two Grammy awards for his mixing work on the Beatles’ Love album.

The deluxe edition bonus DVD will feature footage of McCartney’s July 15 performance on the outdoor marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater, previously available only as a webcast on the Late Show with David Letterman website. The marquee set, which marked McCartney’s return to the site of The Beatles U.S. television debut, generated front page headlines and literally stopped traffic as word of mouth generated a crowd that packed Broadway from Columbus Circle to Times Square.

Paul McCartney’s July 17-21 Citi Field stand has already been unanimously hailed by critics and audiences alike as the concert experience of a lifetime. On November 17, Good Evening New York City will document it for the ages.

Two bonus tracks from The List will be available exclusively at Barnes & Noble and iTunes

With the release date of her new album for Manhattan Records, The List, nearing on October 6, 2009, acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash has announced a series of upcoming television and radio appearances in which she performs songs from The List and talks about her decision to record her first-ever covers album, which features Cash’s contemporary, stylish interpretations of 12 classic songs culled from her list of essential country tunes that her legendary father Johnny gave her in 1973.

The week of the album’s release, Cash will perform on NBC’s The Today Show on October 6th, followed by a performance on CBS’s The Late Show With David Letterman on October 7th.

Cash will also appear on NPR’s popular programs “Fresh Air” and “Morning Edition,” as well as American Public Media’s “A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor,” which will be broadcast live from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN, on October 17th at 4:45 p.m. CT.

In addition, listeners will be able to hear The List streamed in it’s entirety as part of NPR Music’s “Exclusive First Listen” series from September 29th through October 6, 2009.

Following on the heels of triumphant September performances at the Country Music Hall of Fame© and Museum and WNYC’s Greene Space, Cash and her band will open the St. Ann’s Warehouse 30th Anniversary Season by performing The List on October 9th and 10th. Please visit St. Ann’s Warehouse for more information.

Produced and arranged by Grammy Award winner John Leventhal (Cash’s husband), The List gives intimate insight into one of America’s best-loved musical families.

The album includes Cash’s covers of songs written and/or recorded by The Carter Family (“Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow”), Hank Williams (“Take These Chains From My Heart”), Jimmie Rodgers (“Miss The Mississippi and You”), Hank Cochran/Patsy Cline (“She’s Got You”), Merle Haggard (“Silver Wings”), and Bob Dylan (“Girl From the North Country,” famously done by Dylan and Johnny Cash in 1969).

The first single from The List is Don Gibson’s “Sea of Heartbreak,” which features guest vocals from Bruce Springsteen. The track is currently available for download on iTunes.

Two bonus tracks from The List will be available exclusively at Barnes & Noble and iTunes beginning October 6th.
Advance praise for The List is already coming in:

“How can one not get excited to hear Cash wrap that gorgeous, throaty alto around elite, time-tested material handpicked by the legendary Man in Black?” asks USA Today.

“Long revered as a master songwriter, Rosanne is equally talented at reinterpretation, singing with such close-to-the-bone sincerity that you can’t help but think: like father, like daughter,” says Elle magazine of The List in its 25 Essential Happenings feature.

Eels’ ‘Hombre Lobo’ continues to garner critical praise

Appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live July 24th; featured on Weekend Edition and Fresh Air

Fresh on the heels of appearances on NPR’s “Weekend Edition” and “Late Night with David Letterman,” EELS will be featured on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” July 24, 2009 performing a track from their latest record, ‘Hombre Lobo: 12 Songs of Desire’, out now on Vagrant Records.

Released June 2nd, ‘Hombre Lobo’ debuted at #43 on the Billboard 200 chart surpassing the first week success of its predecessor. In addition to the “Weekend Edition” piece, Hombre Lobo was also featured in a review on NPR’s “Fresh Air” on July 9th.

Reviewer Ken Tucker says of lead singer Mark Oliver Everett (aka E), “Whether he sings in a growl meant to be heard over loud guitars or a high-tenor croon with more gently-strummed instruments, E is a sensitive soul, unafraid to sound yearning.”

Recently The New York Times named Hombre Lobo a “Critic’s Choice” while the Huffington Post raves that the record is “so sharply executed that it’s hard to compliment without outright fawning.” See more critical praise below.

EELS is the ever-changing project of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oliver Everett. The band’s first record since 2005’s critically acclaimed ‘Blinking Lights and Other Revelations’, ‘Hombre Lobo’ was recorded entirely at E’s studio in Los Angeles with Koool G Murder (bass, keyboards and guitar) and Knuckles (drums and percussion).

“I wanted to write a set of songs about desire,” says E. “That dreadful, intense want that gets you into all sorts of situations that can change your life in big ways.”

E has embarked on a number of projects since the release of 2005’s ‘Blinking Lights and Other Revelations’. In 2008 E published his acclaimed autobiography Things the Grandchildren Should Know. Also in 2008 the BBC-produced multiple-award winning Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives documentary film about E and his quantum physicist father Hugh Everett III was broadcast on PBS’ “Nova” series in the U.S.

“All this time during the making of all these other projects, I was always writing and recording music,” says E. “Every time I branch out and try something else, I think it will be some kind of relief to take a break from music. But I always come back with my tail between my legs, because there’s nothing I enjoy more than making music. The other projects have been great experiences for me, but this is what I love to do.”

Sire Records is thrilled for the upcoming worldwide release of ‘far’, the highly anticipated new album from Regina Spektor.

An artist known for an acute sense of detail both in music and words, Spektor continues to showcase her amazing ability to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary on ‘far’, which is set for a June 23, 2009 US release and globally June 22nd.

Spektor’s first single, “Laughing With,” is a perfect example of how she allows each enunciated word (or wordless vocal interjection) and each finger on the piano keys, to tell a fascinating story, that is both visionary and gripping.

Watch “Laughing With” video:

The response to “Laughing With” has been overwhelming; the video shot up to #1 on iTunes’ alternative video chart within it’s first 24 hours and the song was met with immediate approval among fans, resulting in over 500,000 plays and a tremendous amount of action on message boards.

Spektor will perform “Laughing With” on Good Morning America on release day (6/23) and The Late Show with David Letterman on June 26th.

Before embarking on a European tour that begins at The Glastonbury Festival on June 26th, Spektor will headline New York City’s Beacon Theatre on June 17th.

Regina Spektor’s remarkable gift to craft intelligent and refreshingly honest odes to life has been captured by long-time friend, photographer / filmmaker / visual designer Adria Petty, with a series of viral videos that will be released up until release day. The first three, for songs “Dance Anthem of the 80’s,” “Man of a Thousand Faces” and “Eet,” can now be seen on MySpace and other sites.

Swedish quintet THE SOUNDS announce the new video for their single “No One Sleeps When I’m Awake” off of the new album, CROSSING THE RUBICON, available everywhere.

Watch “No One Sleeps When I’m Awake” video:

To mark the release of their third full length album, and first release in partnership with Original Signal Recordings, The Sounds have just been confirmed to perform the first single, “No One Sleeps When I’m Awake,” on The Late Show with David Letterman on June 15, 2009.

Due to the overwhelming demand on the band’s MySpace page and message boards, the band recently kicked off a headlining tour of the States beginning April 27th in Boston, MA, before embarking on a 3-month summer tour as support for No Doubt.

‘Crossing The Rubicon’ follows the trials and tribulations of a tight-knit group of friends that went from playing small clubs in their hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden to entertaining legions of fans around the world.

From the romantic combat of “My Lover” to the irresistible insolence of “4 Songs & A Fight,” from the bittersweet “Home Is Where Your Heart Is,” to the infectious chorus of “Beatbox”, ‘Crossing The Rubicon’ is a stunning combination of beautiful melodies, soaring guitar riffs, and boisterous beats, set to the backdrop of the highs and lows of human nature.

The band, along with respected producers Adam Schlesinger, James Iha, Matt Mahaffey, Jeff Turzo, Mark Saunders and Tim Anderson produced ‘Crossing The Rubicon’.

White Rabbits are back with their sophmore album ‘It’s Frightening’ produced by Britt Daniel of Spoon.

Watch “Percussion Gun” video:

The band will be appearing on The Late Show With David Letterman (CBS) on May 18, 2009, so be sure to tune in.

Here is what the press has been saying…

“It’s Frightening veers towards no-frills rhythms peppered with jarring sonics.” – SPIN

“A band with an impressive, distinctive sound.” – PITCHFORK

“Exuberant Brooklyn rock with no fuzzy distance, either sonic or ironic.” – VILLAGE VOICE

“Keep your eyes on these guys. With this new album they may be about to, as it’s said in the parlance, blow the f*** up.” – PASTE

After spending the better part of two years on the road – including festival stops at Lollapallooza, Glastonbury (UK), Sasquatch, Monolith and tours with The Walkmen, Spoon, Richard Swift, The Cribs, White Denim and Tokyo Police Club – White Rabbits hunkered down in their Brooklyn practice space to set about re-envisioning the dark pop of their debut ‘Fort Nightly‘, while adding new sounds and influences to achieve an original work. The result is ‘It’s Frightening’, their second full-length album.

White Rabbits signed to TBD Records (US home to Radiohead/Other Lives/Hatcham Social) and erected a makeshift studio in their basement rehearsal space to demo new material. Band members popped in and out over the course of several months lending ideas and personality to a new batch of songs that defy instant categorization.

After enlisting tourmate, friend and songwriter Britt Daniel (Spoon) as producer, the pair began the process of exchanging demos between Brooklyn and Portland. White Rabbits recorded ‘It’s Frightening’ over the course of four weeks, only taking a break to play the Transmusicales Festival in Rennes, France. The sessions were recorded by visionary engineer
Nicholas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Deerhunter) at Rare Book Room in Brooklyn, NY. Taking special care to recreate the unhinged nature of the original demos, the band utilized the wide range of tools in the analog-friendly studio to shape the personal spirit infused in the new tracks. Upon the completion of tracking, White Rabbits traveled to Austin, TX to mix the record with studio wizard Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Trail Of Dead) using his exceptional ears to transform ‘It’s Frightening’ into a uniquely rewarding headphone experience.

‘It’s Frightening’ plays like a classic reel of tape from start to finish. Opening with the visceral drums of “Percussion Gun,” it is clear that time-off from the road has served the band well. The many highlights include the emotional centerpiece “Company I Keep,” the new sonic territory of “Lionesse” and the macabre lyrics of “Right Where They Left.”

Fans of Fort Nightly will find much to go weak in the knees over and new listeners are in for an awakening as White Rabbits flip the switch on an already impressive beginning. It’s Frightening is a journey into the playfully dark musings of Everyman.

The lineup remains the same: Stephen Patterson (vox/piano), Jamie Levinson (drums), Matthew Clark (drums, guitar), Alex Even (guitar), Gregory Roberts (guitar/vox) and Adam Russell (bass).

A U.S. tour will follow the May release of It’s Frightening.

mom&pop music company recording duo An Horse has announced a full schedule of activities surrounding the upcoming release of its eagerly anticipated debut album. ‘Rearrange Beds’ arrives in stores on March 17, 2009.

Watch An Horse video – playing Camp Out in a single unrehearsed take for Shoot the Player, in a mid-renovation foyer upstairs at the Enmore Theatre, Sydney 2008:

Currently in midst of a major North American tour, the Brisbane, Australia-based duo will make their national television debut with a performance on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman, slated for Wednesday, March 11th.

An Horse is set to make a number of showcase appearances at the upcoming South By Southwest (SXSW) extravaganza in Austin, Texas, including a March 18th performance at Maggie Mae’s alongside Tegan and Sara’s Sara Quin, who helped A&R ‘Rearrange Beds’ after falling in thrall to the duo’s music while on tour in Australia. An Horse will follow its busy SXSW itinerary with a pair of further tours, beginning with a series of co-headlining dates with Wintersleep, set to kick off on March 24th at Los Angeles’ Echoplex. Next up is a run of April dates alongside The Appleseed Cast, starting April 9th at Nashville’s The End.

‘Rearrange Beds’ has already begun receiving extensive critical acclamation. In its three-and-a-half starred rave, Rolling Stone hailed the collection as a “killer breakup album,” praising its “fuzzed-out riffs, hummable hooks and snarling beats” for “(recalling) the best of Nineties alt-rock.” “Their neurotic songs wallop like a small-scale Nirvana,” declared Marie Claire, while Spin commended the “clever and efficient” duo for “(churning) up a poignant fervor.”

Vocalist/guitarist Kate Cooper and drummer Damon Cox came together as An Horse while working in a Brisbane basement which housed one of Australia’s few remaining independent record stores. Though the shop proved short-lived, Cooper and Cox began writing songs and performing live, earning acclaim across Australia for their exuberant and unsettling indie rock. An Horse presented its first batch of recordings to Sara Quin after a Tegan and Sara show in Brisbane and Quin liked what she heard enough to invite the duo to support on Tegan and Sara’s 2008 US tour.

“Kate’s lyrics about love, relationships and the tendency to fixate on disabling neurosis in oneself have become my mission statement,” says Quin. “I get goose bumps, electrical currents running up my arms listening to them – I love this band.”

Upon the trek’s conclusion, Quin introduced An Horse to Michael Goldstone, who had recently launched mom&pop music company with the renowned artist management firm, Q Prime. Goldstone liked what he heard and soon thereafter An Horse became one of the new label’s premier signings.

An Horse recorded ‘Rearrange Beds’ with ARIA Award-winning producer Magoo (Midnight Oil, Gerling, Regurgitator) at Applewood, a converted church situated on 10 acres of Australian bushland 45 minutes west of Brisbane. The album was then mixed in Vancouver by producer/engineer Howard Redekopp, known for his work with such artists as Tegan and Sara, A.C. Newman, and The New Pornographers.

‘Rearrange Beds’ sees An Horse exploring the myriad of nooks and crannies of relationships through Cooper’s personal and provocative lyrical perspective. From the hypnotic “Little Little Little” to the distorted guitar and driving beat of staccato “Postcards,” the album masterfully captures the elation and anxieties of modern love, all with an underlying sense of hope and resolve.

An Horse has also earned a reputation as a truly stellar live outfit. The duo recently joined forces with Death Cab For Cutie for a series of Australian tour dates after Death Cab frontman Ben Gibbard proclaimed “they’d only come to Australia if they could play with An Horse.”

On March 1, 2009, Saddle Creek and Cursive began offering the band’s new album ‘Mama, I’m Swollen’ as a digital download for only $1 through the Saddle Creek website, launching a special promotion to allow fans to buy the album early at a lower cost.

For the next eight days, the new album will be available as a digital download at a pro-rated price that will increase by $1 each day (i.e., the price was $2 on March 2nd, $3 on March 3rd, $4 on March 4th, etc.). When the record hits stores on March 10th, the digital album will then remain at the regular price of $9.

The band will be on the road during March, playing eight shows around the release of ‘Mama, I’m Swollen’ and leading up to multiple performances at SXSW.

Cursive will also make their national television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman on Friday March 13th.

Last week, Cursive debuted two tracks from ‘Mama, I’m Swollen’ online – “From The Hips” and “I Couldn’t Love You” – which Stereogum deemed “an anti-intellectual think piece” and “insanely catchy, wild-eyed ’80s pop…rad”, respectively. “From The Hips” is currently available for a free mp3 download.

Saddle Creek also has CD and deluxe LP physical editions of ‘Mama, I’m Swollen’ available. These include a download card for additional bonus music and videos, varying artwork with handwritten lyrics by Cursive frontman Tim Kasher, and an instant MP3 download of the record. For more information on these album versions, please visit the Saddle Creek website.
