Good Arrows is set in South Wales, where the world of minor celebrity meets the world of professional darts. The video for “You’re A Star” is directed by Irvine Welsh, and co-directed by Balazs Bolygo (Life On Mars), and features Colin and moments from the film, starring Jonanthan Owen (Wedding Belles, Shameless), as Andy ‘The Arrows’ Samson, Katy Brand (Katy Brand’s Big Ass Show) and Brian Hibbard (Twin Town, Revolver) and is Welsh’s directorial debut on a feature film. It features the mysterious Jenkem, “the ultimate credit crunch drug”. The film also features MacIntyre’s MHS hit, “The Final Arrears”. It airs during the World Darts Championship.

The previously unreleased track on the single’s download release will be “Dry Me Out”, which Colin originally recorded for his first MHS album ‘Loss’. ‘The Water’ is the first album to be released under MacIntyre’s own name having dropped the Mull Historical Society pseudonym following three critically acclaimed sets; 2001’s ‘Loss’, 2003’s ‘Us’ and 2004’s ‘This is Hope’. MacIntyre will also launch a series of exclusive downloads of ‘The Water’ tracks in conjunction with a number of leading websites.

MacIntyre, who is now recording his next album for 2009 back in his old school classroom, has been made an Ambassador for World Fair Trade Day in May 09.

ITV Local London has become the official media partner of the Urban Music Awards 2008.

The awards ceremony will be streamed LIVE on ITV Local London on a dedicated Urban Music Awards channel (www.itvlocal.com/london/umas).

Viewers can log on to the website to see some of the biggest names in music perform and pick up the prestigious awards throughout the evening on Saturday 15th November 2008. The Priests are Father Eugene O’Hagan, Father Martin O’Hagan and Father David Delargy; three practicing Roman Catholic Priests from Northern Ireland who grew up singing together while studying for the priesthood, and all joined by their shared faith and passion for music. Uniquely for a debut album The Priests is being released simultaneously in more then 30 countries, including mainland Europe, USA, Argentina and the Philippines, fulfilling an unprecedented global demand. Additionally, the three have stipulated that a percentage of the proceeds from record sales will go to a charity or charities of their choice.

Featuring a collection of spiritually inspired tracks such as Pie Jesu, Ave Maria, Panis Angelicus as well as great classical arias and traditional Irish tracks and blessings, the album showcases the passion and exquisite harmonies of The Priests. The album has been produced by Mike Hedges, whose previous work includes best selling albums by U2 and Manic Street Preachers.

The album, featuring the Choir of Philharmonic Academy of Rome, was recorded in Ireland and in the Choir Chapel in St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City. The choral arrangements are by the choir’s Spanish born director, Mons Pablo Colino, the Emeritus Director of the Cappella Giulia choir in St Peter’s Basilica.

Earlier this year an Irish musician recorded the priests’ voices in a demo and immediately took it to an associate of his, and it eventually landed on the desk of Nick Raphael, MD of Epic Records, part of Sony BMG. Nick was so impressed that he instantly began confidential negotiations to persuade them to sign for the label which is understood to have committed a £1 million investment to making the album.

The Priests grew up singing together whilst studying for their priesthood and have spent their lives using music to spread the word of God, finding time between their religious duties to sing together. Father David Delargy and Fathers Martin and Eugene O’Hagan, who signed their million pound contract on the steps of Westminster Cathedral in April, are poised to become global superstars.

The Priests’ soaring harmonies took centre stage at a spectacular concert at Ireland’s historic St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, earlier this year which will be broadcast coast to coast on the United States PBS network this autumn. In the UK, ITV has just finished shooting a major TV documentary on The Priests following their every move since the day they signed with Sony BMG. They also featured in Time Magazine along with a photo shoot with coveted photographer David Bailey.

The Alan Titchmarsh Show is set to host ‘X Factor’ style competition to search for Britain’s newest Opera diva…

To celebrate the nation’s new love affair with the world of operatic music is the fantastic new touring show, A Night at the Opera starring Jonathan Ansell.

To compliment Jonathan’s boyish looks and sensational voice the producers of the show have undertaken a nationwide search to find the next great soprano and ‘love interest’ for A Night At The Opera.

The eight sopranos who have been picked as finalists will appear on The Alan Titchmarsh Show on Monday 1st September, 2008. They will sing before a judging panel and only four will go through to the next round. They will appear again during September and face a public vote to find two finalists, these will return to sing with Jonathan Ansell and face a final vote to find the winner. The winner will then be joined by the full cast of A Night at the Opera on the Alan Titchmarsh Show on October 27th, 2008 and star with them on the nationwide tour from 30th October to 23rd November.

Jonathan Ansell says “This is a good opportunity for a new rising soprano to come and join us, and get the chance to be part of this unique show. It’s a privilege for me to sing all these great songs every night and for a whole month; I’m looking forward to seeing who I will be singing with!”

Sony BMG presents…’Paul Young: No Parlez’. Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the smash hit #1 album.

With the release of this debut album in 1983, Paul Young was immediately hailed as an intriguing synthesis of the old and the new. Blessed with a classic blue-eyed-soul voice, in the Bobby Hatfield/Daryl Hall tradition, Young pays homage to R&B tradition with respectful covers of Marvin Gaye’s “Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home)” and Booker T and the MG’s’ “Iron Out the Rough Spots”. Laurie Latham’s sparkling production is absolutely of-the-moment.

25 years on it still sounds fantastic – Paul’s own songs are quirky and New Wave-influenced while his choice of covers is rather interesting. He covers Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and three songs by Jack Lee (of LA’s pop-punk Nerves) among them the exquisite hit single, “Come Back and Stay”. In retrospect, ‘No Parlez’ is unmistakably a product of the early ’80s but Young’s voice and those inescapable pop hooks remain timeless.

The album was also a commercial success – the single “Wherever I Lay My Hat” maintained the number 1 spot for most of the summer of 1983. This was followed by “Come Back And Stay” which also shot to the top of the charts.

Paul Anthony Young was born January 17th 1956. His interest in music dates back to when he was very young, when he learnt to play the piano and then the guitar. On leaving school he worked with his father for Vauxhall Motors and played in various bands at night. He played Bass guitar in his first band but eventually lack of demand for bass players led him back to his first passion, singing. These were lean times musically because his preferred style of music; Soul, was not particularly popular. However he managed to sing in various bands such as Kat Kool & The Kool Kats and later in the better known Street band. In December of ‘79 the Street band broke up and Paul went on to form the Q-Tips.

During the next two years Paul introduced himself to more and more of the British public through the Q-Tips extensive touring playing 700 shows all over the UK. This period of intense activity gave Paul the chance to develop his unique voice and stage persona. The Q-Tips went their separate ways at the end of ‘82 and Paul signed as a solo artist with CBS/SONY Records. With the release of his second album ‘The Secret Of Association’ and the success of “Every Time You Go Away”, his status as a world star was confirmed.

More recently, last year Paul featured in the hit ITV show Hell’s Kitchen, coming in third place. Paul still continues to write, record and play live and can be seen on the Here & Now Tour this summer 2008.

Dancers from Thriller LIVE perform Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance in front of unsuspecting members of the public to celebrate 25th year anniversary of Thriller.

The biggest selling album of all time went underground when London commuters were taken by storm with a filmed performance of the famous Thriller Dance on the London district line tube.

Already an instant hit on YouTube, the video shows passengers looking flabbergasted as the impromptu performance by fellow commuters kicks off. One viewer said: “This is amazing!!! Slick as hell. I love the people who pretend they’re not interested.” Another Internet watcher said: “The polite applause at the end is the best bit – very British.”

The video has been picked up across the world with the Metro paper running a huge feature together with TV coverage on ITV London Tonight. This has clearly captured the imagination of the London commuters with a serious debate across blogs, websites and YouTube about this dance extravaganza.

The dance was performed by professional dancers from Thriller LIVE which is a full budget mega-show celebrating the music of the World’s Greatest Entertainer.

Kicking off its UK tour on March 27th, 2008 the dance crew got together with Sony BMG to plan the 25th anniversary of the release of Thriller and thought it would be fun to perform the Thriller dance in various locations around London.

Last Sunday, December 9th, The 79th Royal Variety Performance aired on ITV in the UK. The show took place in Liverpool at the Empire Theatre, in the presence of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

One of the standout performances of the night was by Seal. He opened the show with a great version of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”. The other performers on stage along with Seal were quite interesting – there was a lot going on. Stilt walkers, acrobats, a choir and more, all with a Beatles-esque ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ feel about it.

Seal also performed his positive and uplifting single, “Amazing” off of his fifth studio album, ‘System’. It’s good to see Seal back on the scene. He really is a class act, no doubt about it. With his white suit and scarf that night, he looked like a million bucks.

It’s no surprise that “Amazing” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category!
