On 13th June 2011, Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends will release a special edition of their gold-selling self-titled debut album, the same week that their story of success will be documented on ITV1.
The album features seven new tracks including "(What Shall We Do With) The Drunken Sailor" and "When The Boat Comes In" both sung by the Fishermen in the Young's frozen fish television commercials.
An incredible rousing and joyful set of traditional shanties and Cornish folk songs, the 22-track disc also features stunning new recordings of "South Australia", "Bully In The Alley", "Haul Away Joe" and "The Cadgwith Anthem", performed live on the harbour-side Port Isaac Platt where their almighty brawn chorale has been heard for the past 15 years.
The release comes hot on the heels of the exciting news that the shanty singers have scored a highly covetable spot on this year's Glastonbury line-up. Opening Sunday's Pyramid Stage, the Cornish singers will join the likes of Beyonce, Pendulum, Plan B and Laura Marling. It will be the second year running that the Fisherman's Friends have performed at the UK's biggest festival.
On Wednesday 15 June at 10:35pm, the Fishermen will star in an hour-long documentary on ITV1 charting the highs and lows of their incredible success story.
Directed by the award-winning David Pearson, the documentary follows the fishermen as they deal with finding fame in later life as recording artists and looks at the effect success has had on this unique close-knit band of childhood friends.
The documentary is yet another catch for the 10 strong shanty group. Escalating beyond the realms of simply another novelty act, The Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends were one of the biggest selling new signings for Universal last year and even won a much-coveted Radio 2 Folk Award in February.
The singers have also added six more dates to their busy performance schedule, hitting Cheltenham, Salisbury, Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham and London in November and December.
Continuing the tradition that garnered their recognition in the first place, Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends will also perform every Friday throughout the summer in their hometown on the beachfront harbour know as the Platt.
With a film-deal for their story with Ealing Studios which will begin filming in September and a book deal with publishers Simon & Schuster, written by Robert Uhlig (Ewan McGregor's Long Way Round) to hit the shelves the same month, 2011 is set to be yet another successful year for the gang of old friends from Port Isaac.
