The Temper Trap are thrilled to announce details of their live plans for the New Year across the UK.

The band have spent the past ten weeks creeping up on the nation’s psyche with the captivating single “Sweet Disposition” – from their stunning debut album ‘Conditions’, released in August.

“Sweet Disposition” spent its early life in the lower reaches of the Top 40 before scaling the heady heights of the Top 10 in mid-October, going on to become one of the year’s success stories with over 150,000 sold and (still) counting…

Following their recent sell out show at London’s Heaven, the upcoming sold out Christmas show at London’s Koko on 21st December and news of the first Shepherd’s Bush show selling out in double quick time; The Temper Trap have now confirmed their biggest UK shows to date including an extra show at 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire as follows.

Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton Only at The 02, London

Second Show Added
Sunday, February 14, 2010

Due to overwhelming fan demand, and a sold-out first show, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton announced a second show at London’s 02 on Sunday, February 14, 2010. Tickets will go on-sale Friday, October 2nd.

On the heels of a stunning collaboration in Tokyo, Japan last February and after much speculation, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton announced earlier this month an eagerly anticipated collaboration at the 02 Arena London on February 13, 2010. The duo had only planned a one-night only performance which quickly sold out, and have this second and final show.

In what will be the must see shows of this decade Beck and Clapton will perform together and apart. The duo have shared the stage at Festivals and benefits previously, but the Japan shows at the Saitama Super Arena marked the first time they had shared the bill at a major arena. Both artists admitted to having a fantastic time on stage together and press gave rave reviews. The concerts were so spectacular for the musicians and fans alike, that the two decided to team up again at London’s prestigious 02 Arena.

Both Beck and Clapton have long and prestigious musical careers with countless honours and awards to their names. Beck has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice and Clapton is the only artist to be inducted three times.

Their musical paths are linked together by the Yardbirds – a band that Clapton left in 1965 and his replacement, ironically, was Jeff Beck. Since those days, Beck and Clapton have remained friends, but have only performed together a few times over the years for an occasional song at a charity event.

Now, more than 40 years after the Yardbirds disbanded, the two will join together on the same stage. The duo has said that no exact set list has been discussed but they plan to each do their own respective sets followed by a joint set that is expected to be longer than their first shows in Japan.

Jeff Beck’s recent release, Live at Ronnie Scotts DVD, has gone platinum in USA, Canada and Japan. Beck is currently recording his first studio album in five years in London with Trevor Horne and Steve Lipson producing.

Eric Clapton’s recent release Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD has gone multi-platinum in the US. Clapton also just completed a sold-out North American tour with former Blind Faith band member Steve Winwood.

Ticket On-Sale Information
Tickets will go on-sale Friday, October 2, 2009. Tickets can be purchased via 24 hr ticket hotline 0870 735 5000 or www.bookingsdirect.com. (Maximum 6 tickets per household).

Gurrumul returns to Britain on his European tour to play at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on November 8, 2009.

“…the greatest voice this continent has ever recorded…” – Sydney Morning Herald

Gurrumul’s sound is as fragile as gossamer yet as robust as time itself. His tenor voice resonates with emotion as he tells stories of his land, his ancestry and his culture with the simplest of musical accompaniments.

An unlikely superstar, Gurrumul has become just that. Quietly, and with little fanfare, Gurrumul and his poetic songs, which he sings in Yolngu dialects, have connected with listeners around the world. No one expected it, least of all the intensely shy 39 year old from east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Citing his favourite singers as Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley and favourite groups as The Eagles and Dire Straits Gurrumul learnt to play guitar as a young boy. Because there were no left-handed guitars in the area he played a normally strung right-handed guitar upside down and continues to do so. He played for eight years in the internationally successful Yothu Yindi but found that his blindness made the constant travel exhausting and returned to Elcho Island where he formed The Saltwater Band. Meeting Michael Hohnen, a classically trained bassist, was the catalyst for Gurrumul to record a solo album on which, opting for the less is more approach, Gurrumul’s extraordinary voice is the main instrument with the sparse backing of his guitar occasionally joined by Hohnen on bass.

This record, simply titled ‘Gurrumul’, has seeped into the mainstream consciousness of Australia, causing a nation to reassess its relationship with its indigenous people. Winning a string of awards in 2008 including Aria Award for ‘Best Independent Release’, Limelight Award for ‘Emerging Artist Of The Year’ and 3 AIR (Australian Independent Record) Awards, in June 2009 an APRA Award followed for ‘Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year’.

Meanwhile in Europe Gurrumul’s music is captivating a new audience with the album entering the charts across the continent including a top 10 chart position in Germany. In Britain earlier this year he appeared on Later With Jools Holland and played at Islington’s Union Chapel to great acclaim; this summer he performed at the Latitude Festival and at Queen Elizabeth Hall leading the Daily Telegraph to write “The sound he makes is extraordinary” … “It feels like a privilege being allowed to listen in”…

Prior to the concert, on October 12th, Dramatico will release the single “Bapa”, a delicate homage to Bapa (Father) on which Gurrumul’s exquisite, transcendental voice and his hauntingly beautiful music penetrate the soul.

“Grief has taken hold of me for my father when the sun sets, oh beloved father”

….”his celestial voice and his swelling acoustic songs full of dignity reduce you to tears, aching with the pain of the past and hope for the future…” – Q Magazine

King’s College London, Students’ Union
September 14th, 2009

Also set to play two in-store performances September 12th at London’s Rough Trade East and Pure Groove (@12pm and 6pm respectively)

Andrew W.K., the iconic white clad-rocker best known for performing physically-punishing, party-rocking anthems plays against type on his latest album ‘55 Cadillac’ in the most dramatic fashion – with a recording of solo piano improvisations capturing the visceral excitement of his twin prized possessions, a Steinway grand piano and the legendary vintage car.

At first listen, this seems as far removed an idea as could be from the brash, rousing music that features on previous Andrew W.K. albums. Intimate, personal, unaccompanied and almost entirely unadorned, the album features 8 freeform piano pieces composed at the same time that they were played and recorded. But ‘55 Cadillac’ is driving music too, albeit a very different kind.

As Andrew explained to The Wire magazine “I just wanted to feel a certain way that I couldn’t feel from anything else. To play piano in a free way, where you could just play and feel good yourself – that to me is a good as it ever had to be. Playing solo has a different feeling than playing as part of a group. It feels more risky. But that same pressure is now exciting.”

A classically-trained musician, Andrew has been playing piano since he was 4 years old making this record, the first solo release on his new Skyscraper Music Maker imprint, not so much a left-turn in his musical career as it might first appear. Indeed in the midst of his increasingly kaleidoscopic range of activities it marks a return to the instrument that he describes as ‘the root of my whole musical experience’. Then again, since emerging in 2001 with his signature tune “Party Hard” and debut album ‘I Get Wet’ Andrew W.K. has delighted in confounding expectations.

To celebrate the release of ‘55 Cadillac’ Andrew is bringing what he describes as “a special solo party performance” to London’s King’s College on Monday, September 14, 2009.

With just Andrew and a piano onstage and featuring pieces from ‘55 Cadillac’ alongside long-time favourites, about the only thing that can be guaranteed given Andrew’s long-established appetite for pushing boundaries, is that it will be an evening entirely unlike any previous London piano recital!

As a foretaste of the gig Andrew will be doing two in-store performances on September 12th at London’s ultra cool Rough Trade East and Pure Groove (@12pm and 6pm respectively).

Patrick Wolf to play London Palladium, November 15th

Patrick Wolf’s triumphant year continues with the announcement of a command performance at the London Palladium on November 15, 2009 where he will perform the songs from his latest album, ‘The Bachelor’, and songs from his catalogue as they were originally intended to be heard with a live string section, and gospel choir.

There will also be some very special guests to be announced over the forthcoming weeks.

An unusual but fateful choice of venue, as Patrick explains: “I was in New York at a photo shoot, still undecided about which venue to play my ultimate fantasy show for this album. It was between The London Palladium and The Theatre Royal, so I sit down for a burrito in the studio cafe and from behind me in walks Whoopi Goldberg and gives me a hug! Seeing as the Palladium was the chosen venue for her latest ‘Sister Act’, I thought it pretty obvious what the stars were telling me. The Palladium is the perfect venue to debut “The Bachelor” with string section and gospel choir, to hear the songs in their original arrangements live. This will also be a moment for me to document my work from the last three albums and bring a third dimension to “The Bachelor” live, sonically and visually. So, be prepared for a dark, magic trooper show with special guests and duettists, costume changes and all for one night only.”

The Palladium date will act as the perfect celebration for Patrick and the fans that have helped support the campaign.

Tickets will go on exclusive 48 hour pre-sale via patrickwolf.com from Wednesday, July 29, 2009 where purchasers will have the option of buying a special ltd edition T-shirt designed by Patrick. Tickets go on general sale via Live Nation and See Tickets on Friday, July 31st.

NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC TO GIVE NEW YORK PREMIERE OF TIME TURNS ELASTIC WITH TREY ANASTASIO AT CARNEGIE HALL, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2009, AT 8:00 P.M.

An Evening With Trey Anastasio and the New York Philharmonic,
A Benefit for the Kristine Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund and the New York Philharmonic, Will Also Include Orchestrations of Classic Anastasio Songs
Featuring Trey Anastasio, Co-Founder, Guitarist, and Lead Singer of Phish

The New York Philharmonic will give the New York premiere of Time Turns Elastic – a work for vocals, electric guitar, and orchestra composed by Trey Anastasio, lead singer and guitarist of Phish, and his longtime collaborator, Don Hart – at Carnegie Hall, Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 8:00 p.m.

An Evening with Trey Anastasio and the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Asher Fisch – a benefit for the Kristine Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund and the New York Philharmonic – will also include orchestrations of classic Anastasio songs, featuring Mr. Anastasio, who was named one of Rolling Stone’s “Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” in his Philharmonic debut. The concert will be presented by Princeton Entertainment and the New York Philharmonic.

Time Turns Elastic blends classical music with rock-blues guitar.

“Initially,” says Mr. Anastasio, “I thought it would be a Phish song, but after I sent a demo of it to Don, it just grew organically into an orchestral piece. I grew up loving Ravel and Eric Clapton equally,” Mr. Anastasio continues, “so I kept saying to Don, ‘why can’t we have a piece of music that’s half Ravel and half Cream’s Disraeli Gears?’”

The work received its world premiere in September 2008 with Orchestra Nashville, conducted by Paul Gambill, at the Ryman Auditorium. It was recently performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Marin Alsop. In May 2009 it was released on Rubber Jungle Records, Mr. Anastasio’s independent label.

The Kristine Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund was created by the Anastasio and Manning families to pay tribute to Trey Anastasio’s sister, who passed away earlier this year. The fund was set up to benefit a diverse selection of causes that Kristy supported, which currently include the Seven Below Arts Initiative in Burlington, Vermont; the Carolina Friends School/Afghan Sister School Project in Durham, North Carolina; and the Neuroendocrine Tumor Clinic at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida.

Artists
Over the past 25 years, Trey Anastasio has established himself as a prolific composer, masterful guitarist, and compelling performer. He is a founding member of the Grammy- nominated, genre-melding rock band Phish, which has produced 64 albums and DVDs with combined sales of over seven million units. Renowned for its live performances, Phish was included on the Top Ten Grossing Concert Tours in North America from 1995 to 2000 and from 2002 to 2004, and its series of self-produced festivals is widely regarded as a precursor to the current rock festival boom.

Drawing inspiration from experimental jazz, pop, reggae, metal, classical, and barbershop music, Mr. Anastasio has produced eight solo albums. His June 2004 performance with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival provided the crowd of 80,000 rock fans with an introduction to “new classical” music. Mr. Anastasio has also teamed with the Vermont Youth Orchestra for benefit performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Music Hall in Troy, New York, and the Flynn Theatre in Burlington, Vermont.

Israeli conductor Asher Fisch has conducted at the world’s great opera houses, and is currently principal guest conductor of the Seattle Opera. A former music director of both the Vienna Volksoper and the New Israeli Opera, he makes frequent guest appearances throughout Europe and the U.S. During the 2009-10 season he will conduct a new production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde for the Seattle Opera, and will make his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in a program featuring Daniel Barenboim as piano soloist. He also will lead concerts with the Kansas City Symphony, and in Naples, Genoa, and Bologna, Italy.

Mr. Fisch has conducted the orchestras of Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta, Houston, St. Louis, Toronto, Montreal, Minnesota, and Washington, D.C. In Europe, he appears regularly with the Munich Philharmonic, Leipzig’s Gewandhaus Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, and the Staatskapelle Dresden, which he led on an acclaimed tour of Italy in 2002. In Asia, he has conducted the NHK Orchestra of Tokyo. Mr. Fisch began his conducting career as Daniel Barenboim’s assistant and Kapellmeister at the Berlin Staatsoper, and has been championed by Mr. Barenboim ever since. He is also an accomplished pianist, and has directed Mozart piano concertos and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue from the keyboard.

He continues to perform in chamber concerts and vocal recitals. Mr. Fisch last appeared with the New York Philharmonic in September 2006 for the concerts with Andrea Bocelli, and will lead the Orchestra’s upcoming performances with Mr. Bocelli at Carnegie Hall on September 8-9 and 11, 2009.

Pictured: Tunng

Big Wheel Sundays returns in August for another summer season of concerts at the stunning Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park. Guests include British Sea Power, Tunng and Alabama 3.

“This was a thoroughly pleasant way to spend an evening – listening to rich warm music – in a twinkly alfresco setting as a gentle breeze hissed through the trees” (Daily Telegraph)

“One of the great and simple rituals of London life” (Financial Times)

Big Wheel Sundays, now in its 3rd sell out year, presents some of the most exciting music in London’s most beautiful and enchanting outside venue.

Taking place on the Sundays between the 16th – 30th of August 2009, you will find London’s premium urban festival playing host to British Sea Power, Alabama 3 unplugged and Tunng.

The Experience

Gates open at 6pm for this unique event allowing the crowds to laze around and picnic on the lawn, grab a cold drink from the outside bar or enjoy something sizzling from the BBQ, before checking out the evening’s entertainment in this legendary amphitheatre under a blanket of stars.

The Venue

The location, set within the surroundings of Regents Park, is the oldest outdoor theatre in Britain and has had its boards trodden for the past 75 years. This is the perfect ticket to escape from the rush of the city whilst being conveniently smack bang in the middle of it. A one off chance to experience these artists in a very special, intimate and unique setting.

Big Wheel Sundays is now a regular date in the summer calendar and we are tremendously proud and excited about hosting our 2009 line-up.

The Artists

British Sea Power + very special guests – Sunday 16th August

BSP are a must see live band, having previously won a ‘Time Out’ Live Band Of The Year Award – these boys have a reputation for elaborate and exciting shows; climbing rigging, tearing down their foliage and occasionally a ten-foot bear names Ursine Ultra makes an appearance. Open Air Theatre is a perfect destination for continuing BSP’s habit of seeking out unusual venues. Their style ranges from the sweeping, often epic, guitar pop sound to the visceral and angular. Critics have likened their sound to a variety of groups, from The Cure to The Pixies. And are the first rock band in history with a pronounced interest in bird watching and rambling.

Tickets are Lower tier £32.50/Upper tier £26 – available through

Alabama 3 Unplugged + very special guests – Sunday 23rd August

Named by The Guardian as “the best live band in the country” and Irvine Welsh said “This is the first band I could ever dance to in the daytime hours without chemical assistance.” Alabama 3 achieved international fame with their genius bluesy theme tune to the Soprano’s Woke Up This Morning. A rare chance to catch the band doing an acoustic stripped down set of their addictive blend of country, gospel and delta blues with haunting harmonies and one-inch-punch lyrics in this unique unplugged set-up.

Tickets are Lower tier £32.50/Upper tier £26 – available through

Tunng + Micachu, Beth Jean Houghton and 6 Day Riot – Sunday 30th August

Anybody who has been lucky enough to see Tunng’s triumphant festival shows will be rubbing their hands at the thought of seeing their beautiful blend of finger picking guitars & electronic beats in the Open Air Theatre. Tunng play a mesmerizing mix of folky acoustics and busy electronica, overlaying electronic crackles, gorgeous harmonies, bewitching mantras and synthetic beats that are reminiscent of early Beta Band, ‘The Wicker Man’ soundtrack and Four Tet.
