L.E.D Festival, London: David Guetta, Leftfield to headline

David Guetta and Leftfield headline new London Festival

L.E.D Festival

L.E.D Festival - Victoria Park Friday 27 and Saturday 28 August Bank Holiday Weekend 2010

Three giants of live music - Cream, Goldenvoice and Loudsound - have joined forces to create what is destined to become one of London's most exciting outdoor electronic dance festivals.

Pooling their collective resources they have secured exclusive London performances from the mighty David Guetta, and legendary pioneers of electronica Leftfield as well as an array of special guest appearances from a phenomenally diverse range of dance music's most exciting acts.

The inaugural festival which takes place over London's stunning Victoria Park kicks off on Friday 27th August, 2010 Bank Holiday weekend, and will be headlined by the one and only David Guetta, this will be the French house superstar DJ/Producer's only London show this summer.

Fresh from winning a Grammy for his smash hit "When Love Takes Over" with Kelly Rowland, Guetta has proven himself once again to be a living legend in dance music with what has been one of his most successful periods throughout his entire career via a chart topping single with Black Eyed Peas and on the global megahit "Sexy Bitch" with Akon.

In addition he is about to launch possibly his biggest record yet, "Getting Over You" with Chris Willis featuring Fergie and LMFAO, which we predict will be the anthem of the Summer.

On Saturday 28th August we are delighted to announce that one of the world's most influential names in dance music history, Leftfield, will be headlining. 2010 is the first time fans of the legendary dance group will get a chance to hear the Leftfield sound after nearly a decade away, and will be their only London performance. Their debut album Leftism is still considered to be one of the seminal works of modern music (whether electronic or acoustic) fusing influences as vast as dub, techno, progressive house and IDM and was voted as "One of the 20 Greatest Albums of all time" by the readers of Q Magazine, with their live performances having gone down in musical history expect a very special performance from these electronic pioneers.

Neil Barnes from Leftfield said: "I'm really excited about playing my home town. It's been too long! The line up for the L.E.D is fantastic. It's great to be up there with Aphex, Goldfrapp and Friendly Fires, all artists I admire. Let the bass roar!"

Other acts performing across the weekend include genre-smashing musical pioneers Goldfrapp who will bring the speedy rush of euphoria, optimism and romance of their new album, 'Head First', to the stage as well as highlights from a truly stellar back catalogue.

The Belgian phenomenon Soulwax join the bill and will be combining their indie mentality with vintage analogue synths and catchy rave hooks to release their unequalled live show in Victoria Park.

Other Main stage performances include Friendly Fires who teeter on the edge of the indie-dance continuum with a sound that blends disco influences with their own take on indie-pop, the perfect band to get the dance heads singing along at LED.

Continuing on the live tip will be Scottish boy wonder Calvin Harris who has reached monumental stardom in recent times, working with some of the world's biggest musical talents including Kylie Minogue and supporting the likes of Tiesto on his worldwide stadium tour.

We're excited to announce yet another exclusive to this year's LED Festival line up, once described by the Guardian as "the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music" the genre breaking Aphex Twin, aka Richard D. James, the man renowned for his reclusiveness, the acid house classic 'Windowlicker' and the weirdest IDM to make its way to human ears will perform this rare and exclusive set so be sure to catch him.

Canadian electro supers producer Tiga joins the line up to host his very own 'Turbo Arena' and is guaranteed to take minds to another dimension. Fresh from unleashing their latest album Higher Than The Eiffel, and holding the fort for the Brits at LED, expect a brash, in-your-face, no-nonsense affair from Audio Bullys with plenty of stage antics to match.

Radio One DJ Annie Mac joins the bill to host her own Arena. Annie is responsible for putting cutting edge dance music on the map in the UK and worldwide, championing and nurturing the cream of the electronic crop through her annual tour 'Annie Mac Presents' and her internationally popular Friday night Mash Up show on BBC Radio 1.

Tickets will fly for this new flagship event so be sure not to miss out on a piece of dance music history by securing your earlybird ticket for London's most exciting dance music event this summer. Be sure to keep your ear to the ground for the latest news as more acts get announced.

LED Festival is an 18 plus event

Cream's James Barton commented: "Building on our years of experience, we are delighted and proud to announce this new electronic dance festival to the capital, and hope that the people of London will show their support and enjoy what we know will be a great weekend of music, headlined by two of the biggest dance acts on the planet."

Jim King (Goldenvoice & Loudsound) said: "Both Goldenvoice and Loud Sound are really excited about being a part of these shows. David Guetta is undoubtedly the man of the moment and LED is set to be his biggest show in the UK. Its also going to be Leftfield's first show in London for over 10 years and seeing them perform back to back classics after all these years will be a very special moment. Both headliners are being supported by some really great acts and it promises to be a great weekend".

LEFTFIELD LIVE 2010:

Following the recent announcement that Leftfield are to return to the live arena this Summer, Neil Barnes has confirmed who will be joining him in front of the legendary Leftfield sound system. Original vocalists Djum Djum, Earl 16 and Cheshire Cat, all of whom played key roles in Leftfield's classic albums 'Leftism' and 'Rhythm & Stealth', will be joining Neil for the shows. Completing the live line up will be Adam Wren (keyboards), Jess Mills (vocals) and Sebastian Beresford on drums. Leading the dance music charge of the early '90s, Leftfield carved a path for a raft of great artists including Underworld, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. Their pioneering debut album 'Leftism' often tops 'Best Dance Album' polls, whilst their live shows are the stuff of legend. Leftfield's live return is an opportunity for everyone to experience one of this country's most influential dance artists.

Neil Barnes says: "The opportunity to perform the songs to a whole new audience with the original sound system and vocalists is an opportunity that I simply couldn't turn down, The good will surrounding the live show has overwhelmed me, the expectation is tremendous. I simply can't wait to blow everybody away, Literally."

Paul Daley comments: "I'm about to embark on a solo career with the release of my first solo album. I also want to continue concentrating on my DJ'ing work, so I've decided I won't be joining Neil on stage for the Leftfield dates this year. I want to thank all the fans for their past support and all the people who will be hearing and seeing the band for the first time."
