For the Country Throwdown dates, which also feature Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson, Jack Ingram, and Little Big Town, among others, Church and his band will perform a very rare, intimate "Unplugged and Uncensored" show of which no two performances will be the same.
Eric Church's special sets will begin at 5:25PM (subject to change) at the Outlaw Stage in the Festival Area of each date and will feature the same energy as the super charged shows for which Church is known.
The Country Throwdown Tour will travel through 23 cities from May 14 - June 20, 2010.
"I wanted to do something special for this tour to add to the outdoor, tailgate-like atmosphere and give the Throwdown fans a unique and intimate experience," Church says of the unplugged performances. "Who knows, we may even try out some new songs I'm working on for the new record."
In between tour stops, Church has also worked to help those who have been hit hardest by the recent flood destruction in his homebase of Nashville. Church has aided with supplies to the local Humane Society and encourages fans to help out in any way they can by visiting donatenashville.org.
Church is touring to support his widely praised sophomore effort Carolina. The album debuted at #17 on Billboard's Top 200 and #4 on the country charts and has yielded the singles "Hell on the Heart," which is currently Top 10 on the Billboard and Mediabase country radio charts, and "Love Your Love the Most," which also reached the Top 10.
Rolling Stone praised the album's "surging guitars bolstering good-ol'-boy narratives," and The New York Times declared, "His music puts rock muscle behind honky-tonk and turns ballads into intimate close-ups."
Carolina follows the breakthrough success of Church's critically acclaimed first effort Sinners Like Me, which claimed three Top 20 singles and a #1 video. The album earned Church widespread praise from Associated Press, Rolling Stone, People Magazine and The New York Times.

"Eric Church puts the rebel yell in country music." - Washington Post
"He can drop a punch line with the deftness of Brad Paisley ("Before She Does"), inspire a bit of hell-raising a la Waylon and Willie at their outlaw finest ("Smoke a Little Smoke") and fan the fires of romance as well as any of the heartthrobs dominating the country charts ("Love Your Love the Most")." - Los Angeles Times
