The infectiously catchy debut single “Hey You” was released last September. It stormed straight into the Hype Machine Top 10 as well as gaining glowing reviews across the board and offers from The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.
The Katy Perry date came about when the feisty popstrel heard their MySpace and loved them so much she offered them the gig.
This single promises tales of teenage romance with an amazing video to go with it. Full of swirling synths, catchy as hell basslines and beautiful lyrics the song is set to be the soundtrack to many summers.
In their native France the band are blowing up bigtime. They’ve sold out 3,000 capacity venues as well as tours with Simple Minds, Calvin Harris and La Roux.
Pony Pony Run Run are brothers Gaëtan and Amaël and friend Antonin, a 3-piece from Nantes France. Their sound is a perfect slice of genre-bending nuclear power pop with beautifully written lyrics and buzzy synths that only the French do that well. Ultimately PPRR play dance music for people who love their pop, and they’re not afraid to say it.
The band will be showcasing songs from their debut album ‘You Need Pony Pony Run Run’ around the country this may including Liverpool Sound City on 21st May, 2010 and The Great Escape. The album is due out later this year. Dates to be confirmed soon.
