Listen to "Beg, Steal or Borrow":
Entirely self produced (for the first time) God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise was recorded in two weeks at LaMontagne's home in the woods of western Massachusetts. The newly restored historic home served as a homemade recording studio for Ray and his fellow musicians.
Critics are raving over the newest addition to LaMontagne's canon.
The New York Daily News' 5 star review says the album is, "one of the stand out releases of the year" and says LaMontagne "approaches Van Morrison's greatest leaps into the mystic." Associated Press calls it, "one of the year's best" while the Boston Globe calls it "an absolute gem." Both the Los Angeles Times and USA Today give the album 3 1/2 stars (out of 4).
Ray LaMontagne continues on the road with David Gray through September 10th.
The Boston Herald claims, "LaMontagne has innate down-home grit, and his music possesses a simmering roots-rock fire." During his last North American tour, Spin.com proclaimed Ray, "illustrated a near flawless transition from a front porch in Maine to the front of the most prestigious stage in the world (Radio City Music Hall)."
Along with being on tour, Ray is gearing up for performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live in early September.
The newly coined 'Pariah Dogs', consists of Jay Bellerose (drums), Jennifer Condos (bass), Eric Heywood (guitar) and Greg Leisz (pedal steel guitar).
