NPR Music is now offering an advance stream in its mobile app of Bjork's new album Biophilia as part of the "First Listen" series.
Resulting from an unprecedented multimedia effort, the innovative musician's latest release explores the relationship between natural forces and musical structures.
The full recording is available for free on-demand listening with the NPR Music App for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
In her most interdisciplinary project to date, Björk collaborated with app developers, scientists, writers, inventors, musicians and instrument makers to express the intersections of art, nature and technology.
The full scope of Biophilia's development included an app, a new website, custom-made musical instruments, live shows and educational workshops. The result of this ambitious undertaking can be heard now through the NPR Music App and online at the site.
Complete track listings and album information are available at NPR Music, where there are also extensive archives of concerts, interviews and reviews of artists from all genres.
NPR Music's "First Listen" series is one of the site's most popular features, and is currently featuring Future Islands' On the Water. The free, Emmy Award-winning website at npr.org/music offers new content daily and an extensive archive, in collaboration with NPR's newsmagazines, 12 public radio member stations and the passionate NPR community. Many of the site's features are also available on the NPR Music App for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
