"Sleigh Ride" and "White Christmas" Double A side single release 12th December 2011

The Wurzels, the West Country's finest, serve up a festive cracker with the release of their first ever Christmas album since forming in 1965.

The famous Scrumpy and Western band have put their distinctive stamp on this fine collection of yuletide classics including Winter Wonderland, White Christmas, Merry Christmas and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. And throwing their Santa hats into the race for the Christmas number 1 The Wurzels are releasing a double A side single of Sleigh Ride and White Christmas.

"It's the ultimate cider drinkers Christmas album to be listened to on Christmas morning whilst opening presents and sipping a warm mug of scrumpy, ah let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...oh are," said The Wurzels.

Not content with announcing the release of their first Christmas album, The Wurzels continue to amaze with the news that preliminary discussions are now in place for 'Wurzel World', the West Country's very own Dollywood. Alongside these plans, the campaign continues for the change of name of Bristol Airport to Adge Cutler Airport, in honour of the band's founder.

The Wurzels began with Adge Cutler in 1965 but only came to real fame when they parodied Melanie's "Brand New Key".

"Combine Harvester" shot straight to number 1 in 1977 followed by "I am A Cider Drinker" which was a re-arranged cover of "Una Paloma Blanca", thus showing a Wurzelised song is a hit song.

The Wurzels' greatest hits album on EMI recently topped 80,000 sales and the predecessor to this album 2002's 'Never Mind the Bullocks' is now a standard album in every party CD selection.

In 2010 they released 'A Load More Bullocks', the second in the Bullocks' series and a prime example of the band's ability to Wurzelise hits.

The Wurzels continue to play over 100 shows a year to sell out crowds all over the country, with regular festival appearances at Bestival, Guilfest, Finsbury Park and Glastonbury.

The Wurzels are: Pete Budd, Tommy Banner, Sedge Moore and John Morgan.
