My Glass World - ex-Jam pianist and composer Jamie Telford's debut performance - Tuesday Nov 22- The Forge, Camden
First single 'Oberon' from debut album 'Book One' out today!
Jamie Telford is a name you may not be aware of yet, but you'll definitely be familiar with some of the many chart songs he has played on, contributed to, and the bands he has performed with - Richard Strange, The Jam and The Style Council to name but three. For example he played the driving piano on number one single "Beat Surrender" by The Jam.
Alongside him in My Glass World is Dinah Beamish, a cellist whose name appears on the albums of many artists for instance, Peter Gabriel and Jools Holland (she plays regularly with the big band on Jools' annual 'New Years Eve Hootenanny' on BBC2, accompanying the likes of Amy Winehouse, Paul Weller, BB King,Tom Jones...).

Jamie has an M.Mus and M.Phil in contemporary composition. As well being busy touring with several bands, his own classical work has been performed by world renowned Southbank Sinfonia, The National Youth Orchestra, the piano duo DuoDorT and Piano Circus.
A percussion piece was played at the opening week of Kings Place in London - "thesnaredruminmylife" for Benjafield and Brannick. Piano pieces 'Dusk', 'Scarlet Lake' and 'Aria' were written for russian pianist GéNIA. His solo piano piece 'Concetto Spaziale' was selected by Sound and Music for performance by the winner of the British Contemporary Piano Competition at this year's Guildford Music Festival. Other recent projects include a commissioned piece to commemorate Thomas Telford for Langholm Pipe Brass and Flute Bands.
Jamie has also written work for film, for artist Liz Rideal - 'Killing Fields' 2006 (Imperial War Museum) and for Jane Gifford's 'Dream Diary' 2007. He has also composed sound pieces for well known mezzo-soprano Lore Lixenberg and for the theatre - notably for Yuri Lyubimov's Leicester Haymarket global tour of Hamlet performed in Japan, Taiwan, Australia and most of Europe. Jamie also plays the bagpipes!
Dinah Beamish has played with numerous ensembles, ranging from small string quartets and West End musicals, to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The English National Ballet and Moscow City Ballet, and was member and director of Electra Strings and Brilliant Strings that both specialised in writing their own string arrangements. Electra appeared in Derek Jarman's film Edward the Second. Both can be found on countless albums by artists including Eddi Reader, the Manic St. Preachers, Mark Knopfler, posthumously Nick Drake, Stereophonics, Spiritualised, Teddy Thompson, The Veils, Zero 7, and several of Jools Hollands' albums.
