Sony Ericsson Xperia™ PLAY brings you Kasabian Football Gaming Live, where gaming meets reality in a very special game of football with Tom Meighan and Darren Bent
Kasabian takes on Darren Bent in exclusive Xperia™ PLAY football match
To celebrate the launch of rock band Kasabian's new album Velociraptor!, the band teamed up with Sony Ericsson and football culture brand Umbro to create a "virtual" game of football "reality".
Kasabian front-man, Tom Meighan, took on England footballer, Darren Bent, in a real-life testosterone fuelled battle of the thumbs.
New viral Kasabian Football Gaming Live sees the gaming world collide with reality as Meighan and Bent took two five-a side teams to the pitch and control the players using wireless headsets, and specially programmed Xperia™ PLAY smartphones to move them around.
Never before has a live match been played like this. Sony Ericsson's specially transformed Xperia™ PLAY smartphone allowed Tom and Darren to select and command players to strike, tackle, cross, dribble, slide, pass - just like in a video game, but with real-life footballers.
Kasabian Football Gaming Live video:
Tom Meighan, Kasabian, said: "I wouldn't have stood a chance playing against a pro-footballer like Darren in real-life, but on the Xperia™ PLAY it's a whole different ball game. I think I actually managed to give him a run for his money - never under estimate a musician's secret football talents!"
Aston Villa's Darren Bent, chipped in: "It was great fun using the Xperia™ PLAY to control my players and completely surreal. I never thought in a million years I'd be playing football against a rockstar."
Kasabian Football Gaming Live is a follow up to the 2009 award winning viral 'Kasabian Football Hero' and features Kasabian's forthcoming single Re-wired, out now.
