PledgeMusic, the international direct-to-fan music company, has teamed up with leading independent film company Pulse Films to launch a groundbreaking initiative, making available a new feature documentary about The Libertines, entitled There Are No Innocent Bystanders.
Directed by legendary music photographer Roger Sargent, who has worked closely with the band for many years, this new film offers an intimate look at the band's 2010 reunion with unrivalled access, starting at Sargent's NME cover shoot announcing the big festival appearance at Reading and Leeds, through the rehearsals and celebrated warm up shows, to being on stage on the big night.
Sargent's relationship with the band has enabled him to create the definitive film about arguably one of the most influential groups of its generation, which is narrated by the band in their own words.
The Libertines 'There Are No Innocent Bystanders' Official Trailer:
Fans can get involved in the project via Pledgemusic and will receive a previously unreleased Live EP recorded at The Forum in London alongside access to regular 'Pledger only' updates about the project from the band and Roger Sargent.
Pledgers can also pre-order There Are No Innocent Bystanders and will have access to a range of exclusive offers including three different, feature packed versions of the DVD and a range of limited edition artwork products.
The original target for the campaign set by PledgeMusic was exceeded in the first 24 hours, but fans can still participate in the campaign and there are still many exclusive offers available at pledgemusic.com.
Malcolm Dunbar, Managing Director of PledgeMusic said, "The Libertines are a hugely important band and we are extremely pleased to be able to help them connect with their loyal and committed fanbase for this fantastic new project. The fact that we have already reached our original target in such a short space of time demonstrates the appetite out there for this new film and highlights the viability of getting fans involved at an early stage."
Ahead of its theatrical release in April, the film will premiere with a multi-city event in the UK in March. Using a unique and innovative release strategy, the film will tour the UK's O2 Academy venues to give the fans an opportunity to see the film in a music venue and participate in Q&As with Roger Sargent and band members. The film screening and Q&A will be complimented by a special DJ set from one member of the band.
