The Duhks on Tour

I've been listening to mvyradio out of Martha's Vinyard and usually whenever I turn it on - 9 times out of 10 - I discover another great artist or band from this eclectic radio station that you can find on either your iTunes radio or by going to their website: http://www.mvyradio.com. Today's find is The Duhks.

The Duhks have an incredible singer by the name of Jessee Havey and why I hadn't heard her before I just don't know. Probably one of the best female vocalists that I've heard in awhile. She has a very soulful voice and sometimes I think of Bonnie Raitt when listening to her...but she does have her own sound, especially mixed in with the band which includes banjo, fiddle and what they call, "Contemporary Acoustic, Progressive Soul-Grass". Brilliant. Soul-Grass! I love it. The musicianship is great with a bit of a violin/fiddle jam in the middle of their song, 'Down to the River' which has a male fronted vocal.

According to The Duhks Myspace page, they're from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and are currently on tour. If only they had a date listed for Oxford, England. We would be there!! If you're lucky enough to be able to catch them live, please share your story here at Band Weblogs.
