Tommy Lee, Lukas Rossi and Rock Star Supernova - It's All Love

Rock Star SupernovaFrom what I've been reading on the net, I'm beginning to think that I'm the only one with a blog that actually likes the band Rock Star Supernova. According to the few headlines that I've sifted through, the whole world is against them - or that's what it seems anyway. Even fans of the show have continued to lash out via message boards, myspace, you name it - complaining about the bands' choice for their new lead singer. The winner was Lukas Rossi and I was glad that it was him. He just fits the part.

Rock Star Supernova was a reality TV show produced by Dave Navarro who also helped Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted and Gilby Clarke find a lead singer for their new band. This is just a short sum up of the show (in case you've been living under a rock - even I was able to watch the show here in the UK!).

I've come across some sites that are putting their songs down, saying that they're cliché and are giving the impression that the famous rockers either aren't good enough or don't deserve to be playing rock music the way that they want to. All you have to do is a search in Google Blogs for "Rock Star Supernova" and you can't miss the negative reviews. I mean really - aren't most rock songs cliché? It's a genre of music people, it's supposed to be fun - haven't you heard? "Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll"! I think some of the nay sayers must be listening to too much indie and pop and have forgotten what rock music is all about. If anything, hopefully all of this negative press is bringing the attention back to Rock music as a whole.

The songs that I have heard by the band, I really like. They're cool - and I think it's great that Tommy, Jason and Gilby have joined forces with Lukas Rossi - the young gun with a punk edge and because of the show and this opportunity, we all know who he is. He's cool and luckily, as negative as some of the reviews have been, there are a lot of Rock Star Supernova fans out there who are enjoying the ride.

I am a fan, I watched the series, I wanted Dilana to front the band, but I am ok with Rossi. The thing is - I saw RSSN on Jimmy Kimmel last week, they were all very good, but something just was not clicking for the band as a whole, I was waiting for the magic and it was not there ... yet. I hope by the time I see them in January they have found their groove. You know Gilby Clarke asked Rossi not to turn his back on the audience so much, but he still does it, maybe he is still star struck and has the best seat in the house to see his heros play.

I liked Dilana too. I was happy with either choice, but from the beginning of the show thought it would/should be Lukas. I hope they find their groove. It will be important - would like to see that the band's still around in a couple of years.

That's funny - he probably is still star struck! :-)

  7. Diane says:

I watched the show when the group was looking for their new lead singer and I loved it. And I am very happy that Luke Rossi won. I think he fits in perfectly with the band. I'd love to see them in person. I grew up with "sex, drugs & rock and roll" and it's still the best music around. Love the oldies - Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and I love this group.

  8. KAYLA says:

I LOVE LUKAS ROSSI BUT NOT TOMMY LEE LUKAS YOU ARE COOL AND HOTT

  9. AAVON says:

I WATCHED THE SHOW EVERY TIME IT WAS ON AND ALWAYS VOTED FOR LUKAS, THIS ISN'T ANYTHING DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THE WORLD PROBABLY EXCEPT I'M 69 YRS YOUNG. WHEN HE WON THE FIRST THING I DID WAS CALL MY GRANDSON SCREAMING HE WON, HE WON.

I COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET UNTIL NOW, I WAS LEAVING OFF ROCK STAR. NOW THAT I KNOW THE NAME OF THE GROUP AND CD I WILL BE OUT THE DOOR TO BUY IT.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE GROUP, I WOULD BE RIGHT THERE WITH THE KIDS SCREAMING MY HEAD OFF.

THANKS FOR THE CHANCE TO LET THEMK NOW HOW I FEEL.
