2007 was an incredible year for The Proclaimers. They enjoyed their first UK #1 with the Comic Relief release of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)", and followed this up with the album 'Life With You', which saw them enjoy some of the greatest critical and commercial success of their careers. Entering the charts at #13, the album went Silver by the end of the year and is still going strong.
And after months of successful touring, playing to over 100,000 fans and fitting in crowd-pleasing performances to huge crowds at the V Festival, they finished the year in style by headlining at the Stirling Castle Hogmanay and appearing in the list of Top Scots in Scotland on Sunday.
The Proclaimers now return in 2008 with the third single from the album 'Life With You' - a double A-side of two of their most biting songs, demonstrating beautifully their ability to pen records that hit on political topics, whilst always retaining their sense of wit. If anyone doubted their talents as songwriters, one listen to these tracks would alter their perception.
On the "New Religion" single Craig and Charlie voice their contempt for 'people's obsessive behaviour on subjects like football, Star Wars, or any kind of modern obsession which turns a pastime into an obsession and elevates it to a state of religion'.
Never ones to sit on the fence, the Reids describe "In Recognition" as being "about our overwhelming contempt for people on the left in this country who snipe against the royal family and then end up taking honours".
