Maximo Park to open Glastonbury @ the new William's Green area + The Other Stage

Maximo Park

With 'Quicken The Heart' finally released this week, it's now time for a bit of news we've been itching to share with you for a while now...

Maximo Park will be opening Glastonbury this year in a first for the world's most famous festival!

On Thursday 25th June, 2009 at 4pm, the band will take to the stage of the brand new William's Green area (named after Michael Eavis' grandfather) to kick off this year's festivities a day early. While only 1,500 people will be able to squeeze into the tent itself, an estimated 50 thousand people on site at that time will be able to see and hear the set on huge screens and speakers outside!

Maximo Park will also play The Other Stage on Saturday evening.

From Paul: "Glastonbury's still a festival that takes chances, as proven by Jay-Z's triumphant appearance last year, so it's an honour for us to be the first band on, in such intimate surroundings. It's also an excuse to hang out and watch loads of brilliant music 'til we play the Other Stage on Saturday!"

From Glastonbury: "We are really excited about this extra special Maximo Park gig to kick off the festival. William's Green is brand new for 2009, what better way to introduce festival goers to the area."
