Rupee at SOB's

On Thursday, May 21, 2009, SOB's welcomes Soca sensation Rupee with The New Request Band.

Before Rihanna was making a splash in mainstream music, fellow Bajan (Barbadian), Rupee was winning fans for the genre of Soca. Early in Rupee's career his music was more dancehall oriented but after joining then-popular Bajan band, Coalishun, he gravitated more towards the reggae-soca genre.

"Tempted 2 Touch":

One of his early successes was the infectious "Ice Cream" which was a hit throughout Barbados. His next hit was even bigger is still played at every West Indian festival to this day; the widely popular "Jump", an undeniable Soca anthem. Rupee's next hit was the International smash hit, "Tempted To Touch", which gained heavy rotation in almost every major musical market around the world. The single created waves all over.

Rupee is coming to usher in the Summer party season properly. Don't miss the Soca fete on May 21st.
