Release New uncompromised Album
‘Dirt’ – October

Manchester born Andy Sharrocks releases NEW album ‘Dirt’ which has been said to be an uncompromised Americana album, armed with raw, emotional, gritty and honest vocals and has lyrics transporting the listener into the narrators skin.

The album, recorded live in Sensible Studios in north London, was originally scheduled for recording in 2008 in Minneapolis at Jeff and Tommy Vee’s studio, Rockhouse but was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. It took him a while to regroup, but with his co writer, The Reverent Paul Green, he once again assembled an outstanding bunch of musicians, including Captain Bliss and Matt Ord from fellow Americana band Hey Negrita.

‘Dirt’ is the second solo outing after the critically acclaimed 1999 album ‘Walking In Familiar Footsteps’ which featured the brilliant Mick Taylor, Paul Jones and Jeff and Tommy Vee.

Sharrocks who has been around since the early punk days, has released a string of singles starting 1979, when he went by the name Accident On The East Lancs and which all releases are now keenly sought after by collectors of authentic original punk and recently featured in Record Collectors magazine at number 74 in the top 100 rarest punk singles.

He released a further single under the name of Citizen 88, and then spent the next decade playing solo gigs and tour managing in an effort to keep his head above water.

Andy, who’s music has in recent years been described as alt country with menaces with a voice described as the missing link between Bob Dylan and Captain Beefheart, has just won an array of brand new blues fans after having just finished a UK tour support for John Mayall and also got the chance to perform at Camden’s famous venue The Jazz Café last year.

Sharrocks has also supported other Blues legends such as Mick Taylor and Steve Gibbons, The Strawbs, Buddy Whittington and The Yardbirds and continues to support Mick Taylor and John Mayall as well as possible future gigs with Buddy Whittington.

In words of Andy Snipper from Blues Matters, “if a version of The Smokin Jackets hits your town don’t hesitate to go and see them”.

DIRT can be purched from Paypal (see his Myspace).

The Album ‘WALKING IN FAMILIAR FOOTSTEPS’ – still available by order in all good record shops.
