Will and The People are set to release new single "Addicted" on 22 February, 2010.
After an incredible year, Will Rendle is back in the studio with John Tilley and Simon Hanson (Squeeze, Death in Vegas) laying down tracks for the forthcoming album and it's easy to see that the last twelve months have been a massive inspiration to this constantly evolving collective.
Free from the frustration of ever delayed release schedules, Will And The People are set to release a new single every month, starting in February with the undeniable crowd favorite "Addicted", which in the words of Will:
"Was written in an all nighter session by 5 people.. The lyric is about addiction, in general but also something very specific to me.... When someone or something drives you up the wall but you can't leave them, or it.... It is a schizophrenic song".
New tracks such as "Golden Thunder", "Plasters" and "The Game" also reveal a much deeper blend of musical influences throwing their weight around in the mix.
Will's song writing has developed in a way that naturally harnesses these eclectic sounds into a more mature, yet playful progression of the reggae tinged indie-pop this band have become so revered for. Big things are expected from Will And The People this year and they aren't about to disappoint.
Note: In the last 12 months Will And The People have:
- Broken free from a 4 album deal with Sony/RCA
- Played live across some of Europe's finest venues
- Self produced and sold 1000's of copies of their six track EP
- Been championed by Jo Whiley on Radio 1
- Toured with Paolo Nutini, The Script, The Hoosiers and Girls Aloud
- Racked up over quarter of a million views on youtube
- Established their own recording studio in Brixton
