Derek Hoke - Goodbye Rock N Roll

Goodbye Rock N Roll is Derek Hoke's first release and establishes him as a strong country songwriter, having already received rave reviews from local and national publications, including Nashville's Music Row Magazine. Goodbye Rock N Roll is a record with shades of Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, and Lyle Lovett intertwined.

The album features the songs "Rain Rain Rain," "The Finer Things," "Where'd You Sleep Last Night" and, of course, the title track, "Goodbye Rock N Roll" - where Derek bids adieu to "the big guitars" of rock.

Goodbye Rock N Roll is already receiving strong reviews and, in addition to the record's release, Derek has recently released a music video for "Where'd You Sleep Last Night", filmed in East Nashville.

Born in Brunswick, Georgia - a self taught guitarist, composer, singer, and loner - Derek's first love was the theatrics of KISS, but not before his grandfather planted the country music seed in his brain by playing it constantly when he was very young.

The music Derek Hoke plays is not your dad's country, it's your grandfather's country, the real country.

Like most in his line of work, Derek has moved around. Derek grew up in Florence, South Carolina and eventually moved to Greenville, North Carolina when he was 18. Here, Derek worked in record shops and movie theaters, immersing himself in art and music.

After a few years and visit to Nashville, Tennessee to see the likes of Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Los Straightjackets, Hoke decided to make the move to Music City.

He slept on ?oors in crowded houses, played around town in every venue that would have him and then went on tour working for Ricky Skaggs for 3 years and saw almost every state in the union.

Derek's personal experiences have been immensely important on his body of work and personal sound. Derek Hoke is a man who embodies his experience, both with his constant relationship with music and his travels in life.
