Arrows of Love

Taking their name from an extract of William Blake's last book, Arrows Of Love are truly one of the most exciting and innovative acts to come out of London in the last few years. With a revolving array of musicians that have played or still play in Hush the Many (Heed the Few), Turbogeist, Jamie T, Loverman, Courtney Love, Eraserheads, Circulus this truly gawp inducing act will blow your tighty whiteys clean off!

After releasing the Burn This Town EP this summer, Arrows of Love are turning their attention to Zager & Evans' 1960's apocalyptic anthem 'In The Year 2525', released on Nov 16th with a special limited edition of 20 hard copies, each handmade by a different artist.

Intertwining art and music, Arrows of Love are now working with 20 artists across different disciplines, each creating a piece of work inspired by the theme of '2525', and each containing one of the 20 physical copies.

Causing a ridiculous amount "Cooing" and "Buzzing" within the industry and amongst their ever growing, religiously fawing fan base, Arrows of Love are magical, maginificent, perplexing and nigh on right ruddy perfect!

"This group are nothing if not a spirited bunch of ruffians...The same rebellious streak features in their music too....Arrows of Love prove with this EP that they've more than a few strings to their trembling guitars." - ARTROCKER

"Believe The Hype" - TNT MAGAZINE

"Original, honest and angry..." - THE 405

"A supreme self-confidence, a declaration of future greatness and a determination to do things on their own terms. Arrows of Love sound like a band that has just started to tap into something primal and exciting... they will have us all by the throat, and we’ll love them for it." - CULTURE DELUXE

"Will definitely get under your skin." - THE BEAT SURRENDER

"The Fall...Pavement...Howling Bells...Sonic Youth...Stereolab. They'll creep into the radar when you least expect it." - ALTSOUNDS

"It seems like only a matter of time before they explode and their grand, crashing, emotionally charged sound gets some love in return." - GOD IS IN THE TV (Tip for 2009)

The Palpitations

The Palpitations have been winning hearts and singing about broken ones in an astonishingly hopeful and captivating way for just under a year. Like a diamond amongst cut glass, The Palpitations have brought us something so shiny and new that everyone wants a piece.

Bonded by the refusal to join the cul-de-sac sect their surroundings insisted upon- they have produced powerful haunting songs to shake the audience out of their daily slumber and routine.

With lyrical lullabies that veer from darkly melodic to epically euphoric, this incredible band drives you from unease to rapture in five minutes, they don't do flatline.

"Lost in haunting tones, you are almost paralyzed throughout the whole performance. You're speechless at what's unfolding in front of you, just trying to understand that you are witnessing poetry of sound in the making!" - Broccoli Music Live

"The Palpitations produce a wall of sound that is evocative and powerful, music that snares and circles your brain like a wild animal hunting its prey...It’s direct, absorbing and irreducible" - Breaking Waves

"That was the fantastic Palpitations from Pushing Pussy Records with 'Tears in The Rain'. They have just released a 300 Limited Edition 7" Vinyl, I've bought mine, number 176 so you better hurry and grab your copy, great stuff!" - Andrew Weatherall, BBC 6 Music

A Brief History Of Bloody Awful Poetry:

"Come! Let us ply ourselves with enough alcohol to sink a small Oliver Reed!" - Bloody Awful Poetry

Bloody Awful Poetry is the brainchild of three like minded chaps from North London who, fed up with paying to see their favourite bands play and the tight guest lists promoters ran, decided to look for a way of watching the best new music for free. After months of pressing the backs of stamped hands onto the backs of others hands, buying security guards drinks and claiming to work in every venue in the city, they decided the easiest way would be to run a night themselves.

Starting in January 2007 their regular watering hole, Nambucca in North London, BAP has spent its life bouncing around London, spreading its obsession with the cream of the countries music everywhere from SIN to the Scala, Madame JoJo's to Punk, Proud Galleries to...um...THE NEW Proud Galleries and has seen itself rise from cult favourites to the capitals darlings.

To music fans what the Pied Piper was to children, Bloody Awful Poetry has gathered a legion of avid followers and been hailed by local and national press and radio with reviews, previews and shout outs coming from all sides; XFM, Radio 6, The Guardian, The London Lite, The London Paper, Time Out, The Metro to name but a few.

With regular nights having been running in the centre of Soho since the start of 2008 they are no stranger to big events, hosting acts from Eddie Argos to Good Shoes, Mumford and Sons to Akala or VV Brown to Orphans and Vandals with past BAPPERS including MGMT, Kid Harpoon, The Horrors and some unfortunate Big Brother rejects, the profile of the company has grown so much in stature that this year they were asked to host venues at Camden Crawl and London Calling Festival.

"You'll love the bands, the bards and the boogying at this quirky club" - London Lite

"A fantastic night of indie, electro and retro...its chock full of cool cats, fashionistas and more sexy feelas in skinny jeans than you can shake a quivering stick at" - QX Magazine

"One of Londons top indie nights" - Guardian Guide

"Get along to a Bloody Awful Poetry night!" - The London Paper

NB. Bloody Awful Poetry does not encourage binge drinking. Do as we say, not do as we do.
