Andrew Zuckerman: Music iPad app
A First of Its Kind - A New Kind of Portraiture, Brought To Life in Pictures, Text, and Video Available Exclusively For the iPad
Andrew Zuckerman, award-winning photographer and director, has created MUSIC, a first-of-its-kind iPad app on sale now at the iTunes store.
The MUSIC app is an extension of the book and film Music, recently published by Abrams (Fall 2010).

Like the book, the app features stunning portraits and interviews with over 50 musical legends including Ozzy Osbourne, Yoko Ono, John Legend, Lenny Kravitz, Common, Trey Anastasio, Ravi Shankar, Itzhak Perlman and Fiona Apple. But the MUSIC app enhances the experience even further by including individual 3-7 minute films for each of the artists, the option to organize the entire text thematically, and the ability to share text—creating a truly multi-dimensional experience and bringing the idea of portraiture to a new level.

"Because different people have different ways of enjoying media," Zuckerman says, "we've created the MUSIC app to give the user the ability to choose how they want to experience this monumental and comprehensive project. Art books have stunning images and beautiful layout, but their size and weight can often leave them sitting on bookshelves and coffee tables. An e-book may be portable, but it's simply text, and e-readers were not designed to present the content and complexities of an art or photo book. The MUSIC app was created to fill this gap and integrates all media—text, audio and video." Zuckerman adds, "The MUSIC app also gives the user the ability to purchase music they're reading about directly from iTunes. For music lovers, the project is the definitive exploration of the subject."
