On the upbeat lead track from the wryly lovestruck 'Bella' - his fifth album - Teddy is a refreshingly candid Romeo.
During "Looking For A Girl" he lists the qualities he wants in a woman - "I been looking for a girl who is good in bed, but knows when it's time to knock it on the head" - along with everything he needs to warn a prospective lover about.
Teddy Thompson releases new album 'Bella'
He's never less than honest, revealing bad-boy inclinations alongside his kindlier attributes, all of it sung in Teddy's singularly stirring voice, one that musically and emotionally can never render a false note. "That's my favourite style," confirms Teddy, "a pretty melody with a twist."
Recorded in this native Englishman's adopted home of New York City, the track was produced by David Kahne (Regina Spektor, Paul McCartney, the Strokes). "I was searching for someone who was quite poppy but who had a really musical sensibility," says Teddy of David. "I mostly have worked with people I knew I was going to get along with, but David I just didn't know at all."
Teddy Thompson follows the single release with a 23 date UK tour.
