Blue Note recording artist Amos Lee will hit the road with multiple Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams for a series of very special shows in July.
Lucinda Williams appears on Lee's critically acclaimed album Mission Bell, duetting with Lee on the song "Clear Blue Eyes," which Country Weekly has called "a heartbreaking piece of classic country." She also joined Lee onstage for a performance of "Clear Blue Eyes" during his show at L.A.'s Music Box in January.
Williams has said of the Philadelphia-born singer-songwriter: "Amos Lee knows how to use his voice to tell a story with a hint of mystery."
Amos Lee's dates with Williams kick off on July 13th after Lee winds up his headlining spring tour followed by a series of festival dates, including The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in April, Bonnaroo in June, two shows with the Dave Matthews Band Caravan in June and July, the Newport Folk Festival in July, and a performance with My Morning Jacket at Colorado's famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in August.
In September, Lee will head to the U.K. for a sold-out tour with British songstress Adele.
In other news, Lee will appear on TBS's Conan on May 9th and on NBC's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, performing "Jesus" (off Mission Bell) with The Roots, on May 26th.
Lee will also appear on CBS's The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson with an airdate to be announced.
Released on January 25th, Mission Bell debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, earning Lee the highest chart position and best sales week of his career. Mission Bell's first single, "Windows Are Rolled Down," is currently #3 on the AAA radio chart, marking another career high for Lee as this is his highest chart position ever on the format.
Produced by Calexico's Joey Burns, Mission Bell is Lee's richest and most fully formed recording to date, displaying an array of emotions unified by his eclectic taste and distinctive vocals.
With a remarkable set of guests - including Williams, Willie Nelson, Iron & Wine's Sam Beam, Priscilla Ahn, Pieta Brown, and James Gadson - and the musical backing of Calexico, the album marks the arrival of Lee as a mature artist who continues to explore his musical and thematic interests.
