A Band Called Quinn releases Wolf Cries Boy (Tromolo Records)
Single release: June 6, 2011
Glaswegian female fronted indie rockers A Band Called Quinn (ABCQ) release their new single Wolf Cries Boy from their critically acclaimed The Beggar's Opera album which features sleevenotes penned by Britain's best selling crime writer Ian Rankin on the 6th of June.
Wolf Cries Boy was the final song in the spectacular Vanishing Point theatre show in which the band toured in 2009.
The band have shot a video for the song with horror film maker Uisdean Murray in a 12th Century Scottish castle where Mary Queen Of Scots stayed and has Knights Templar connections. They shot it on the night of the biggest full moon for 33 years! The second location was the grizzly scene of a gruesome Glasgow gangland murder.
The single features two previously unreleased tracks from The Beggar's Opera with performances from Scottish actors Jim Bryce and Pauline Goldsmith and a remix which was recorded live at The Scottish Music Centre with 60 pupils from secondary schools across Glasgow 'School Of Rock' style singing, playing percussion, kazoos and howling!
The video has been picked up by NBC LA show Action On Film and will go out to an audience of 6 million viewers after Saturday Night Live this week. They also have three songs on the soundtrack to Scottish rom-com Fast Romance screening in Cineworlds this June.
