Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan and students from the Sarah McLachlan School of Music (SoM) gathered to record an original Christmas song and music video featuring original lyrics by student Freya Cirulis (17) with music by SoM students.
"Space on the Couch for Two" features the talents of Sarah McLachlan on lead vocals, with background vocals and instruments performed by students.
This song is offered free of charge on the Sarah McLachlan School of Music website: sarahschoolofmusic.com or SpaceontheCouchforTwo.com in the hopes that people's generosity will allow the Sarah McLachlan School of Music to continue providing exceptional opportunities for at-risk youth in Vancouver, BC to learn music. 100% of the profits made from the sale of this song will go to support the Sarah McLachlan School of Music.
"Space on the Couch for Two" was a spontaneous creation by students in between shots and setup during a photo shoot with Sarah on November 22, 2011. The song was born when Sarah heard a bar of music that caught her attention and invited the students came together to give life to this very special Christmas song. Freya Cirulis, a 17 year old student at SoM studying songwriting, voice and guitar wrote the first verse on her arm with a black sharpie and finished the verses later at home.
The collaboration between Sarah and the students has resulted in a beautiful song and an amazing experience for each of the students.

Christmas isn't going to be easy for many this year, so I have decided to give the world a Gift of Music! The students at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music and I have created a new Christmas song that you can download entirely for free!
