Oberhofer - "Gotta Go" single [Stream Track]

Oberhofer

Oberhofer "Gotta Go" 7" single out on 9th January 2012 on Black Iris

Ever since moving operations from his parent's basement in Tacoma, Washington to Brooklyn, 20 year old Brad Oberhofer has been carefully honing his own brand of bedroom pop, which is as affecting and genuine as it is naively chaotic.

Charmingly skewed and ramshackle, Oberhofer's classic, melody heavy indie rock sound manages to meld Brian Wilson sized hooks with expansive instrumentation and kooky, unpredictable song structures.

The intense production mixes programmed drums with jittering live percussion and centers his exuberant yelps amongst keys, xylophones, whistles and washes of wall of sound guitar.

Backed with a powerhouse three piece band, Oberhofer has spent the past year touring with bands like Twin Sister, Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian and Bear In Heaven.

A much anticipated debut album is due for early 2012.

"Oberhofer sounds like he's expressing the kind of happy, life-affirming jitters you get when waiting on line for a roller coaster, or when you win concert tickets on the radio. Ah, youth." - Pitchfork

"With fingernails cracked from a style of guitar that blends reckless strumming and occasional taps for frenetic effect with no guitar pick in sight.... The songs are all downhill rush, simple enough to get lodged in your psyche but peripherally nuanced to keep your ear." - Stereogum
