120 Days Debut "Iskald (Ice Cold) Ambient Mix"
Return to US for SXSW Behind First Studio Album In 5 Years
Norwegian-based quartet 120 Days has debuted "Iskald Ambient Mix," an atmospheric collection of tracks aptly named for the current season.
The mix arrives in advance of II, the band's anticipated sophomore followup, and first studio album in over 5 years.
Out on March 6th with Oslo-based label Splendour (of Montreal/Casiokids, His Clancyness/Shimmering Stars), the album embraces a different recording process than the last, evolving on the quartet's signature sound or "pulsing krautrock grooves," as Stereogum describes it.
120 Days are making appearances on both sides of the Atlantic this winter, having recently performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012 Festival in the Netherlands, and heading to Russia before returning stateside for scheduled appearances at SXSW '12.

Iskald Ambient Mix follows "Dahle Disco", their latest single co-produced by Norwegian DJ/electronic artist Lindstrøm. The albums's first single "Osaka," was released as part of Club Mod, a new singles imprint by Modular and remixed by diskJokke and Sidwho?
120 Days have been playing together since 2001 and their debut took them around the world, from America, where they signed with Vice Records, to Japan, where they played to crowds of 17,000+. Those subsequent five years have given them valuable, well-earned perspective, and their sophomore album proves that it's worth taking a little time out. To put it rather more simply, this new one is even better than the first.

"120 Days builds power through repetition...tightly sequenced sounds and a rigid snare-drum beat provide a sturdy base over which the band layers groaning drones, phased melodies." - NPR
