UNDRESS RELEASED VIA PLEDGE MUSIC 3RD FEBRUARY 2014

Jesca Hoop‘s startling originality has established her as one of Avantpop’s most arresting recent arrivals and brought admiration from and collaborations with the likes of Tom Waits, Guy Garvey and Peter Gabriel. Now, she is set to elevate her position to High Priestess of Punk by laying herself bare with her new release ‘Undress’.

Jesca Hoop Pledge Campaign Video 2013:

Set for release in 2014, it is the Manchester-based Californian’s second release via Pledge Music, the direct to fan fundraising organisation, having released The Complete Kismet Acoustic earlier this year. That was a live acoustic rendering of her first album, Kismet, and now for Undress the songs from her second record Hunting My Dress are performed live with trusted allies in a stripped down fashion. It’s a chance to experience these stories in the most up close and personal way imaginable, perhaps second only to Hoop singing them for you at your bedside.

Here’s a few words from Jesca, for she writes more usefully about the concept that we ever could:

“It is one thing to take a batch of new songs into a studio with time on your hands, instruments to high heaven, a producer as keen as the devil and panel of knobs and faders that could put a shine on any old piece of rust. It is another to take these songs to the stage and play them live. My approach to performing my songs live changes considerably once I have separated them from the studio process and set them free in the live realm. Limitation plays a key role in determining what can be done. It becomes ever more clear that the song is paramount. Before any bell or whistle there must be a great tune in place to capture the imagination.

It is my aim over the next few months to capture each song from Hunting My Dress in its most natural state – live – to bare and to tell these stories in a way you have not heard them before. Undress will strip back any adornment, shine a light on its very skin and put the heart of the work, the songs, to the test. ‘What can we do with just this set of songs, this simple cast of instruments and our voices right here right now? Will the song stand?’ I am about to find out.

I would like to say thank you in advance to all you pledgers out there for your support. It’s great to be able to have a sure fire way to make these records available. Please check the many different items made available to help fund Undress and enjoy!”

The Hawk In Paris

The Hawk In Paris, a Nashville-based electronic/synth pop group, is set to release its first full length album, ‘Freaks’, on October 29, 2013.

The group formed when three college friends reunited after 10 years and explored sounds outside the realm of their day jobs.

The Hawk In Paris is made up of writer/lyricist Dan Haseltine (Jars of Clay), producer/writer Matthew Bronlewee (Paul Van Dyke, Selena Gomez), and producer/writer Jeremy Bose (The Band Perry, Amy Grant, Sugar + The Hi-Lows).

This trio has created an electronically laced album influenced by 80s-synth and early 90s trip hop. ‘Freaks’ draws from pioneers of electronic music such as Massive Attack, Kraftwerk, Portishead and finds inspiration in 80s-synth groups including Eurythmics and Depeche Mode. Modern day influences include M83, The Postal Service, and Gotye.

The Hawk In Paris is currently running a Pledge Music campaign in order to raise funds for the production costs of Freaks. Listeners can receive incentives for contributing to the campaign at www.pledgemusic.com/projects/thehawkinparis
