When Gwen Stefani isn't busy coming up with the goods for her L.A.M.B. fashion line, luckily she continues to write great pop and dance tracks to the delight of her fans. Now she's back with her latest release, "Wind It Up" off of her second solo album The Sweet Escape. I'm happy to see that Gwen's Harajuku Girls are back with her, dancing to her music as she continues along her journey outside of No Doubt. Although she's not too far away from her old haunts - ex-boyfriend and No Doubt bass player Tony Kanal is working with her once again, producing three of the tracks off of the album: "4 In The Morning", "Fluorescent" and "Don't Get It Twisted".
I must admit I've been singing and dancing along with Gwen Stefani since her early days in No Doubt when my ex-boyfriend and bass player at the time bought me a video of one of No Doubt's live concerts as a gift. It's great to see that she's still going strong and also keeping a friendship going with her ex even though she's now moved on not only musically but also romantically as she's married to former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
"Wind It Up" has a whole lot of yodeling going on with a Sound of Music type theme, but it's a cool mix and no surprise that The Neptunes have done brilliant work as the producers of the track.
