After discovering that Obama's great, great, great grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, resided in Moneygall (before emigrating to the U.S. in 1850) Donncha, Gerard and Brian Coorigan penned "There's No One As Irish As Barack Obama" in less than 20 minutes.
On a whim the brothers from Limerick posted a homemade music video on YouTube capturing the hearts and imaginations of over 600,000 viewers. Within weeks of inception, the band knew they had a hit as the track caught on like wildfire, garnering a slew of press from both sides of the Atlantic including; Newsweek, Ireland's number one talk show The Late Late show on RTE and a performance on MSNBC's Hardball. The BBC's Andrew Marr Show called the band's performance "the only YouTube video you have got to see", while The CBS Early Show stated the song was "infectious".
The Corrigan's are amazed at the frenzy their toe-tapping ode to Obama has caused; "The next morning we woke up and there were articles in the New York Post, the New Zealand Herald, and papers in South Africa and Asia," noted Gerard.
Continuing to ride with the wave of success; the boys will perform "There’s No One As Irish As Barack Obama" at the Inauguration Day Parade in Washington DC on the Irish American float and then again at the Irish American Democrats Dinner that evening.
Currently the brothers are recording a full length album to be released in 2009.
