Hurray for the Riff Raff - 'Young Blood Blues' + 2010 tour dates

Hurray for the Riff Raff release 'Young Blood Blues'

Hurray for the Riff Raff

For those who aren't familiar, welcome to the world of New Orleans based, three piece indie-folk/blues rockers, Hurray for the Riff Raff.

The band started when a teenaged Alynda Lee Segarra began hopping trains, traveling across the country while learning to play banjo. Eventually she settled in New Orleans, and allowed music to take hold of her life. She quickly embraced the city's community of street musicians, who encouraged her to develop her banjo skills and sing old jazz songs. She was soon performing with traditional jazz bands on the sidewalks of the French Quarter, playing and singing while learning from the music of the city she loves.

Hurray for the Riff Raff brings delicate wanderings of old souls and spirits from the past into the wide open spaces of consciousness. They are influenced by the sounds of classic country like Hank Williams Sr, 1960's Rock n Roll, and master singer/songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Neil Young.

eMusic chose Hurray for the Riff Raff's new LP Young Blood Blues, for its eMusic Selects Program. The Program features a small handful up-and-coming unsigned bands a year. Other notable eMusic Selects artists have included Best Coast, Crystal Stilts, and the High Places. To quote Some Velvet Blog, "This is an album of great songs that will redefine any concept you have about folk or alternative-country."

"Alynda Lee Segarra sings with a huskier version of Judy Garliand's voice, a wavering crescendo twinkling at the corners, which are still caked with somberness and a sober tone." - Daytrotter

"Songwriter Alynda Lee's voice seems to emanate from some deep, wooded, dark Appalachian past." - Mojo Magazine

Hurray for the Riff Raff are about to embark on a MASSIVE 40 city tour with Sam Doores and the Tumbleweeds.
