Jared Leto, Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic hosted a special screening and Q&A for fans of their controversial and sexual short film/video "Hurricane" Tuesday night at New York City's Museum of Sex.
Hundreds of fans lined up for hours for the opportunity to watch the 13-minute director's cut of "Hurricane" with the band and various characters from the film. Many fans watched from outside as the room quickly filled to capacity.
After the viewing, the band participated in a Q&A moderated by acclaimed author and New York Times contributor Neil Strauss. The video was banned or restricted to night time broadcast on many networks around the globe which has sparked discussions about censorship throughout the internet.
This is the third screening the band has held for fans, the first was in Los Angeles in February and another in Australia in March.
Today, Thirty Seconds To Mars will tape an up close and personal performance for MTV Unplugged in uptown New York.
The band will join the prestigious ranks of artists such as Bob Dylan, R.E.M. and Smashing Pumpkins who have all done their own MTV Unplugged, one of the networks longest running series. MTV will announce the actual airdate soon.
Thirty Seconds To Mars have continued to reach new heights since the release of their critically acclaimed 3rd album 'This Is War' in December, 2009.
They have been on the road non-stop for the last 18 months, selling out arenas around the globe. They just wrapped their "Closer To The Edge" U.S. spring tour in which they added theme nights on many stops.
Both the band and their legion of fans participated in different themes such as 80's night, military night, neon night, sports night, preppy night, zombie night and others, only enriching the connection and concert experience that Thirty Seconds To Mars share with their audience.
The band will play in Puerto Rico later this month before spending most of the summer playing the European festival circuit.
They will then play shows in locations such as Russia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia before returning to Europe to play the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August.
