Lara Ewen and Unstrung Orchestra to perform at Sunset Music Series on July 14th

Brooklyn-based Americana artist Lara Ewen will perform with her band at the Hudson Waterfront Museum & Showboat Barge in Red Hook, NY on July 14th, 2007. This will mark the 13th season of George Tocci and David Sharpe’s Sunset Music Series. For all shows, doors open at 7:30 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM. Lara Ewen has been performing locally and regionally in support of her debut full-length record ‘Ghosts and Gasoline,’ which released on March 2nd. In addition to regional festivals that she recently participated in, she will also be touring parts of the Midwest in July.

Her career began nearly 20 years ago in Boston. Lara picked up her first guitar and began writing music while attending college. Her bluesy, Americana style has gained her favorable comparisons to Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, and Ani Difranco. Since self-releasing ‘Ghosts and Gasoline’, it rose to become the top-selling record on Digstation.com for the following week of March 5th. The title lends itself to the idea that the past becomes the fuel for progression in our lives today. ‘Ghosts and Gasoline’ was produced by Allen Farmelo (Ian Gillan, Rachel Z).
