Los Angeles based band The 88 today announced a May tour that will take the group to the United Kingdom for the first time, as both opening act for Ray Davies and as headliners for additional performances of their own.

The 88 has been attracting attention and tirelessly playing the local scene, as well as opening nationally for acts like the B-52s, Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, Matt Costa, One Republic, 311, and most recently a month-long tour of the U.S. with Ray Davies - serving as both show-openers and Davies' backing band during a medley of classic Kinks songs. The 88 also once served as the late Elliott Smith's backup band, by personal request, for a memorable Orange County performance.
Recently, The 88 became the first band to record a track entirely on an iPhone, a process that was chronicled via YouTube.
"Love Is The Thing" was released exclusively on iTunes, and within 24 hours became the band's most downloaded song. USA Today, "Kurt The Cyber Guy", the Los Angeles Times, and countless blogs trumpeted The 88 and their innovative new way to record and distribute music entirely outside of the mainstream music industry.

About The 88
Founded in Los Angeles in 2002, The 88 have released three albums - Kind of Light, Over and Over and Not Only...But Also.
The band is perhaps best known for their staggering 40+ music placements in film (Failure to Launch, You Me and Dupree), television (ABC's Grey's Anatomy, CBS' How I Met Your Mother) and advertising (Sears, Target) among others.
Aside from extensive touring in North America, they have appeared on numerous national talk shows including Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call With Carson Daly.
