Named after the eight-minute epic from their recently released full-length Sound Awake, the "New Day Tour" will commence August 6th in Vancouver before looping the U.S. and ending in Los Angeles on September 13th. Tampa's Tides Of Man will open for most of the dates.
"It's time for a good ol' North American road trip again," attests guitarist Drew Goddard. "Look for a big white van full of weird Aussies with bad hair and guitars pulling up at a town near you."
Before touching down in the U.S., Karnivool will play their first UK festival slot on Aug 1st as part of the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth with Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden and Iggy & The Stooges.
Critical praise of Sound Awake has been global with Rolling Stone Australia awarding the album 4 STARS and calling it "A sprawling work of melody, mood, tempo and musicianship... Intricacy, pedantry and perfection." Dan Slessor of KERRANG! exclaims, "Their sound is a fine one indeed - exploratory and spacious, heavy, truly epic, and gorgeously melodic" and Elliott Politte of Guitar EDGE confirms, "If you're looking to get your socks rocked off, you don't have to look much further than Sound Awake."
Slash also recently called out the band as one of his favorite new artists when the legendary ax-man was interviewed by producer/DJ Mark Ronson on East Village Radio.
Karnivool's thunderous anthem "Set Fire To The Hive" from Sound Awake is currently at radio.
