Futuristic Retro Champions release May The Forth / Settle Down

Futuristic Retro Champions - new single out 5th August

Futuristic Retro Champions

May The Forth / Settle Down is the debut single from Glasgow-based pop four-piece Futuristic Retro Champions, a double-A side featuring two brand new songs.

Released on 5th August, 2010 through Everything Flows Records, it will be available on limited edition CD as well as online download through the band's site at retrochamps.bandcamp.com.

The band have released two EPs so far in 2010, the FRC EP and the free-to-download LaChunky EP and have shared stages with Kate Nash, Ladyhawke, The Vaselines and Friendly Fires among many others.

Described by Manda Rin from Bis as "the best new band in Scotland", Futuristic Retro Champions are three girls and one boy who produce pure pop, with a particularly Scottish twang.

May The Forth is a homage to lost youth, to the "hottest kid on the coolest scene", powered by a thunderous four-to-the-floor beat and rippling synth lines, while Settle Down, the band's self-proclaimed "eighties power ballad", expertly showcases vocalist Sita Pieraccini's majestic, soaring melodies.

The single will be launched at Mono, in Glasgow on 5th August, where the band are delighted to include on the bill the Turner Prize winning artist Martin Creed, performing a rare set with his band, and Eugene Kelly, taking a brief rest from The Vaselines current busy schedule to perform a solo set, as well as Hidden Masters and Samba drummers Kings of Macumba.

Martin Creed will also be designing the artwork for the single. Pieraccini says, "Martin's been a fan of the band since he saw us in London a couple of years ago. We're so excited to have him designing our artwork, and we can't wait to play alongside him at the single launch."
